Far cry from what it used to be. Now it sounds like the Trans-Am series used to be. And Camry??? Still think that's a load of crap.

CoT?
:sleepy:
RWD Camry with a cam-in-block 350cid V8?....yeah right!
:rolleyes:
Can't tell what manufacturer supposedly made each car unless you can read their logo on the front hood?
:mad:
That's why I gave up on NASCAR years ago.
The only thing that NASCAR had going for it is that they allow you to bring your own beer into the stands.

It's like IROC only the cars aren't actually manufactured by manufacturers lol.

Agreed, but show me a Ford, that offers a push rod V8 in a RWD configuration, I believe the last was the '00 5.0 Explorer...
Since Ford dropped the Windsor based configuration and switched to the FR9 engine, no mfgr is racing what they build, all custom designs now days...

Yup, just hasn't been quite the same since David Pearson retired...
It was still fun, though the mid '80s & early '90s when the boys from Georgia were kickin' ass...

They should have used the Marauder if they can use a dang Camry.

NASCAR is very good spec series racing. It is what it is, and we will never have cars that are similar to "real" cars doing 200 mph+ at Talledega again. I wish we had a touring car championship series like in Europe or Australia where they race more realistic cars (actually "silhouette" cars) on road courses. I cant believe we have separate ALMS and Trans Am series, those should be combined. Finally, to tweak NASCAR I would do the following:
end "The Chase" - right now you have 12 guys trying for a championship and 31 guys with no chance at all for a championship and no mention by the tv announcers just motoring around the track to look pretty;
get rid of the "top 35" - I know sponsors would be pissed but Im tired of seeing non-top 35 cars with better qualifying times that many of the top 35 cars;
cancel the Fontana race (nobody will miss it) and one of the New Hampshire races and substitute dirt tracks (the new nose doesnt have a huge splitter so it might work, otherwise just have a separate front clip for dirt tracks). My dos centavos.

The pace cars.

Man, I'm glad I didn't say I liked NASCAR.
Hello, Mercury Montego's.
Think Cyclone, they were actually slightly more aerodynamic than the Torinos, especially the Spoiler II that had the the Tallaedga style front nose...

Speaking of Spoiler II Cyclones, I had a Cale Yarborough version in the early '80s, needed a lot of work so I wound up selling it... Somewhere I should have a picture but would need to be scanned, anyway they looked like this... There were also Dan Gurney versions that were painted blue & white...

I'd trade your Marauder for one of those!
:D

No problem, you find a nice one and I'll be there with the Marauder...
They only built 503 Spoiler II and that includes both red & blue...

There was a Cyclone Spoiler at MV, sharp as a tack.

i would love to see nascar have a 1/2 dirt track in their 2011 season, that would be some fun to see, 4 wheel drifting, etc..
