I just picked up a 2003 MM last night with 62k miles on it. Assuming reasonable weather this weekend, I will be changing the oil and such. Is there anything else I should be looking at with 62k miles? The seller is looking for the owners manual, but has not found it yet, so I do not have a list of any service intervals at the moment.
I hope it isn't anything like my SHOs.

PM me with your email address and I'll send you a pdf of the owners manual.

BTW...
The owners manual does not have the service interval info. That was in a separate document.

If you don't know the service history of the car, may not be a bad idea to change all the fluids.

60K eh? I'd do:
Seaform, oil, plugs, trans pan drop, fuel filter, air filter, clean maf, perhaps coolant. Get a new motrocraft battery too if it's original.
Wouldn't hurt to remove the rear diff cover and fill with good quality synth gear oil, axles sometimes die early on these cars.
Good luck.

The 60k is nothing like a SHO (replace timing belt, adjust valves, replace water pump, change CPS, plugs, wires (150) ). I remember doing many of those ...
The memories ...

I would not call them good memories. The only car other than a Ferrari I know of where you have to remove the hood and intake manifold to change the spark plugs.
I met a couple of guys how swore it was easier to drop the motor out the bottom of the car than tune it up in the car.
I just need to sell my SHO and be done with them. "I will not buy another SHO, I will not buy another SHO, I will not buy....."

You keep telling yourself that!
As for tuning it up, I got good enough with practice that i could have plugs and wires changes in an hour. If I didn't care about the back two plugs, 15 minutes.
The memories ...
I have not torn my motor apart on the Marauder but it looks SO much easier to wok on.

We have a comedian in the house ...
But you are correct, we only 'wok' on ricers and WORK on cars.

Try again to get the service history.
The service history will save you money or time.
Otherwise do what babbage says including the rear differential gear oil change. Jan 2003 and earlier built must have the rear differential gear oil change or the axles go bad. Look at the driver's door for build month and year.

The REAL reason the rear axles on SOME 2003's go bad is the axles were not heat treated properly. Has nothing to do with the rear axle fluid :shake:.
Ford does recommend that you use 75w140 fluid in the rear end and supplied a replacement axle tag stating the fluid recommendation with the axle TSB kit.

The build data is 5/02, so I guess I have the old axle fluid.

If you haven't already bought the Optima, check into the DEKA AGM battery for our cars, more amps, more reserve, perfect fit and lower cost.
The AGM batteries are amazing.

You probably already have a right rear axle that is damaged too. I would try and find out who the servicing dealer was and see if the TSB was done. If not save your money on the diff. flush and start shopping axles. I just did the Dormans from Rock Auto.
Get it on a nice smooth road, roll up your windows, turn off the A/C, stereo etc.
roll up to about 50 and put it in neutral for a few seconds. You will probably hear a rumble from the right rear.
Mine were noisy at 38,000, changed them at 40,000 and was amazed how much metal was in the pumpkin.
It is totally quiet now.:)
