Out and about today driving the MM. Going up the on ramp to the bypass, I put a little foot into it. After getting on the bypass, I starting hearing a clicking sound. Slowed down and it continued. Pulled over and looked at rear tire and there was an allen wrench (short end) lodged in the second grove of the tire. The wrench had sc***** the metal and plastic areas of the wheelwell. I moved the wrench around and could hear air leaking.

Decided to drive to the Mercury dealer and have them check it out. Second grove made it ok to plug. Tire was plugged, filled with nitrogen and on our way. Lucky, only a $20 fix.

Hope you at least kept the Allen wrench

My best road find was a 16 inch crescent wrench.
It was large enough that I slowed down before I ran over it. So I stopped and got it from the middle of the road. Was marked with "SKIP".
Skip must have been a forgetful mechanic and could not figger out who stole his wrench. But there was not any SKIP around to return it to.
I still use it 35 years later.

I have CJs Vice Grips, and Jeffs Channel locks. I have found more tools in the spare tire area of 79 - 93 Foxbody 5.0s than I have bought. I always tell them before I take the car or call them after and they never pick up.

I used to stop and pick up bungee straps that were in the road(if it was safe to do so). Then one day I was following a septic truck and a bungee flew off the sucker upper hose holder downer(technical term) I haven't stopped to pick one up since.

I picked up a 32' fiberglass Warner ladder (about $320), that I saw fall off a CEI truck, called them they never picked it up. I used it in our business for 10 years.
