Based on the info on that site, he is probably using the ignition bypass set up which cuts off the ignition and dumps raw fuel into the exhaust. Then spark plugs mounted near the tailpipes ignite the fuel.
The old school way to do it was by having manual choke on a carburetor. You would pull the choke out making the engine run rich, then the plugs in the tailpipes would ignite the raw fuel.
Then there are the cheaters who install propane tanks in the trunk which enable you to throw 50+ foot flames !

Yep - that's what it looks like when you try to run w/rich fuel mixture.
"fuel injection" to the tailpipes is the only way to go!
I just got the skulls off to re-polish them.
Now I can see the spark plugs inside the pipe to help diagnose the ignition box.
By the looks of that video he has similar problems with his ignition box.
Looks like I'm going to have to re-invent the ignition - bigger & better!!

I have to get a good video of the flamethrowers now that I have new tags!
