Anybody ever try to install some pencil beam driving lights behind the grill using that nice beefy brace sitting in front of the radiator? AND, use the fog light wiring so the head light switch still controls everything? Some feed back would be appreciated, wire upgrade, brackets used, etc. Thanks, blair in socal...

Have you checked that brace? If I remember correctly it's plastic.

We just mod the foglights to use an H1 HID kit.

and, I'm not going to say "yeah but I ment the L shaped brace below the plastic U brace!" I should have touched it instead of peering down through the cracks! The performance you get out of upgrading a 3" light does not even come close to the beam of a 7"er, the fog's were the first thought!, but traveling at our speed in open desert/country - these 7" xenon/HID lamps reach out a football field, and at my age I need all the reaction time available!
Looking at that area behind the grill-front of radiator, those plastic clips holding the bumper fachia on are a laugh-er! Thanks, blair

I have some LED emergency lights mounted to that plastic piece. They have held on there great! They are pretty light though and are held on by two small self tapping screws each. I am sure you could use it for these lights if you can disperse the weight across the surface. See youtube vid below for where I mounted them.

Okay, it's done, they work better then I expected, the front end looks awsome, OE fog light wires/headlight switch app. worked like a charm, job is clean! Now I have two holes for directional air flow (thanks Dennis). Only drawback, it has to be a long lonely road when you use them....other cars will think a 747 landed on the interstate!

That's great, till you go SC, and can't find a place for you heat exchanger...

Maybe I'm just being paranoid, but how close are the lenses to the plastic grill? Is their any danger of melting the grill? I would imagine that a light capable of lighting a football field would give off a lot of heat.
