I have to give my brother 'props' for lending me his Wiha Security Bits kit. (Part # 71991)

Once I saw it, I had to get one for myself....$43.85 off of Amazon with free shipping!

It is great to have the 'Tamper Proof' Torx bits, 'Tamper Proof' Hex bits, 'Posidriv' bits, 'Triwing' bits and the 'Spanner' bits as well.....
all in one small 3.5" x 5.5" kit with a slide out tray!
If you can't disassemble it with this kit, you've got a really odd fastener.

Heck...I've hardly ever needed 'Square' bits and never even heard of 'Torq' bits...:dunno: (far right side of tray)

The red sliding collar locks the bit in place so that it can't fall out and rattle down into the engine compartment's black hole.

MAF sensors have 'security' Torx fasteners.
Seems that the factory doesn't want us modders messing with them....:D

I bought a similar set a few years ago. Throttle position sensors on '96 Jeep Cherokees have safety torx on them.


MAF sensors have 'security' Torx fasteners.
Seems that the factory doesn't want us modders messing with them....:D

I always thought it was supposed to be some sort of theft deterant feature. When I was working at the junkyard I was told thieves were taking cars and just quickly peeling off the high dollar sensors and this was supposed to slow 'em down or help discourage it.

First Torx to get that treatment from myself was a bolt/shaft in the side of a Mustang II 4 speed that held the reverse shift fork, was a biggun' either T45 or 50... Later I bought a set of the tamper Torx so I could periodically clean the MAF meters on my stuff...

I wanted to change the differential fluid in my wife's Subaru.
The drain plug requires a Torx T70!!!!...:eek:
(Friggin' Japanese cars and their stupid crap!...:mad2:)

Advance Auto Parts and PepBoys told me:
"There is NO SUCH thing...they don't make a T70 Torx!"

I went over to Salvo Auto Parts and the guy said:
"Sure!...right here in aisle A4!"

It is a BIG sumin-a-gun!
(But a whole lot cheaper than letting the Subaru dealer drain/change the gear oil!)
