Is there any difference between our factory engines and these? At least the bottom end? I know the intake looks different, but what is the difference for the 22 horsepower? I know they had 280 and we have 302.

Would this engine work?

Check this out and let me know.

You only want the Mk8 motor if it is the Teksid block

The cylinder heads are completely different...those older DOHC V8s had dual intake runners with both round and rectangular ports.
They also had the IMRC port actuators = PITA!

They would only be good for the short blocks.

All of the Mk8 came with the Teksid block. But the block is really the only desirable part except maybe the crank (which is just like ours but it's not a weak link). The pistons and rods are just like ours (fragile), heads are different, intake is different...

Isn't the timing cover different also?

Yes, and the ideal cover for a Vortech cuz it has the good belt tensioner

Yeah, it's the older type with the "good" tensioner design. Valve covers are also different since they're not COP. I was just referring to mechanical differences rather than covers & cosmetics.
