Coming to Chicago this weekend...

I have liquidated all of my vehicles (with the exception of the Marauder) in hopes of acquiring a nice awd car.

The Suburu Outback really grew on me. But once in the showroom the Imprezza 5-door in the WRX format was really nice. The Rally Blue really grew on me.

I have learned that these cars are difficult to locate as a result of low production, and high demand. The closest Blue WRX 5-door is in Schaumburg, Ill.

The dealer unfortunately has a bad reputation according to the BBB.
A rating of F.
Apparently they are under new management, so I hope I won't get screwed once again.

Anyway, I know 4 WRX owners. One is a cop, two are bartenders, one is just a friend. They all love them.

I considered one before I pulled the trigger on the Wagnum, but I needed more space for guitar amps 'n' stuff.

I didn't find that one in my search.
Good thing though, that one is a standard trim, and I fortunately found a premium trim variety....substantially cheaper.

Wanna play in the snow this year? With 101k on my Magnum, extra weight (driver and car), and running a Cooper all-season truck/SUV tire, I don't think I'll keep up with your new WRX with winter tires. Dealers, dealers, dealer....WTF is up with the GM's at certain dealers?

I had my price and invoice pre-arranged, my finance rate was orally discussed, and once we sat down in the big man's office to sign the papers, the douche bag rears his ugly head.

Half way through the paperwork, after we agreed upon a 2.9% finance rate, he slaps down an extended warranty agreement and says "sign here".

I am like whoa...slow the boat. We never discussed a price. "Yes we did..."
No....we did not. How much is it?
$2250.

WTF? Uhh...I reply informing him I spoke with a Suburu dealer in Boston that is selling these 6/80k warranties for $825.
He says no way. I politely expressed I realize he marks these up 40-60% and it's ALL profit. I apologize but decline.

He promptly tears up my warranty contract and says " Fine...your loan rate is now 3.9%
Again, remaining somewhat calm, I ask, so now you're effing with me right?
He replies, "I won't sell that car without an extended warranty" at that price.
Quick math in my head....and I say fine, you're the loser here. I'll just close the loan when I get home.

I got the car I want.
I love it!
EFF that guy.
I am reporting the Napleton's dealership to the Suburu of America headquarters and the Illinois BBB next week.

It's been a year and a half and off she goes again.

Too many high end modded Acura's around here.

This car is officially for sale, with one potential buyer local.

I ordered a 2013 STI 5-door in WRB last week.
Finally got the exhaust and down pipes squared away and need to start all over now. Much as the Marauder was in our first few years, few add-ons are compatable...fortunately the STI has nearly all the major mods pre-installed ;)

I sure miss my Marauder on occasion now.
It had such a presence that most cars just cannot duplicate.
I also find myself second guessing my abilities in some situations that had I been in the Marauder would have likely been...dare I say, over confident.

This website and the MM family have grown so nicely over the years. Once again, this camaraderie is something hard to find these days when groups become so large and diverse.

Hope to see some old acquaintances at MV-10 next month.
