Got a new tensioner (whole assy) and the other 2 pulleys from my local Ford dealer for $118 including tax.

Nice and quiet. One of them was making noise, couldn't figure which one so I just replaced them all.

Here's a picture, can see the part numbers:

You must have ESP...I was JUST trying to find numbers for the 2 separate pulleys.

Doing some research on the Dayco site, it seems that the smooth idler pulley is the same as the tensioner pulley. The ribbed pulley isn't listed at any of the local FLAPS...AutoZone, Advance, NAPA, or even show up on Dayco's site when you input vehicle info, but it does have a cross from the Motorcraft number.

Dayco numbers: Smooth idler- 89007
Ribbed idler- 89051

What sort of "noise" was it making? Chirping at shift points, constant squealing, something else?

I suspect my idler pulley is 'bout to buy the farm. It's starting to make what I would describe as a metal-on-metal bearing squeal. Faint right now, I'm just keeping an extra ear out for it.

Squeal on start, when I'd goose the throttle, and the revs would go up fast and return to normal, I'd get a squeal/howl, sometimes it would last 5 seconds...

I paid zero shipping, and got real Ford/Motocraft parts. Show us a better deal for all 3 then, with shipping and tax.

Havent you worked on your car in the past? For 24 dollars and 10 minutes of work you could have swapped bearings.

Im happy for you that you spent 118.

Re: yes I wrench on my own car. Every mod in sig was self installed, except for exhaust and gears.

Eh-heh. Show us then, what bearing press to buy, what bearings... Not for me.

I've got my old ones if you want to buy or trade for something, perhaps you can repair them.

The alternative is to go to your local Napa and have them match up and press in the new bearing. The pully itself dont fail just the bearing. I had that done on my CV and the Marauder.

The bearing is a 6203 for all 3 pulleys...the most common bearing on earth.
No press needed. Just a socket, hammer and a flat surface.
...whatever...

What about the tensioner - any way to re-spring him too?

Welp thanks for the tip, I'll attempt repair my old ones and keep them on the shelf.

Isn't that the same bearing Ford has used in most alternators since about 1965???

You can be such a condescending dick sometimes.

It's not your money, why did you get so pissed?

Not everyone does things the way YOU would do them, you're going to have to accept that and stop being an ass.

Copycat.. Though I COULD HAVE gotten all 3 + the belt for a bit less including the shipping from TASCAfordparts.com

Swapping out the bearings is a interesting ideer, I figured it must be possible but plenty of chances for it to turn into a PIA. I will play with my old pulley off the rauder to see how it goes.

Hehe, yep on on PIA. I like my local Ford dealer parts counter - called - got them the next day at noon, so if I had put overnight shipping on TASCA it would have been $113.

Rauders a lot nicer than the vic eh? ;)

My stuff took a week to show up, one part was on order (never found out which one) and had to buy another belt in a pinch when it shed one rib (first serpentine belt fail for me) So I ended up with a spare new belt, and a Duralast smooth pulley (that went on the lincoln)

Yeah, kinda don't miss the vic too much when I drive the Rauder. Put just over 5K on it so far, just cracked 58K. Bought it to drive and doing so, but will be nice to let the Lincoln eat up some of the miles soon.

Well, we are now monetizing our own debt, which de-values the dollar, which is the same as a hidden tax. Everything will be up by 20% very soon. Did you see gas prices jump? That was OPEC in response to us buying $600 billion of our own bonds.:bs:
