My TBird's temp isn't running hot, yet the coolant in the resevoir tank doesn't seem to be circulating and isn't warm/hot even after a long drive.

I noticed this only after I added some stop leak (getting antifreeze smell which seems to be heater core related), and, when checking after a 20 mile ride, the stop leak mixture just seemed to be lying in the resevoir.

Before I start, I'm assuming that your '94 Thunderbird is like my old one where the resovoir tank was not an "integral" part of the cooling system (as opposed to a Marauder).

I'm not sure that the coolant in this tank should get warm. It definitely will not circulate like the rest of the coolingt system will, as it's just an overflow tank. Stop leak won't do you much good when added to this tank. You'll need to open the rad cap and pour it in the rad and not the overflow.

On a different note, a site you might want to check out is the tccoa if you're not aware of it. This is the "mercurymarauder.net" of Thuderbirds/Cougars.

The only way to add anything on the later model MN12s is through the reservoir if I remember correctly. There wasn't a direct cap into the radiator. I don't remember which years this was for though.

Not sure... I think this might have changed in '95 or '96, unless United States models were different from Canadian models. My '94 just had an old school overflow, much the same as my '88 F150

When I had my 95 ThunderChicken, I was a longtime member of www.TCCOA.com (http://www.TCCOA.com) You'll find everything you need there if you can't get an answer here. I think you may have clogged something, but, I could be wrong.

What engine do you have?

4.6 engine.

No radiator cap.

Looks like the stop leak additive finally dilluted. I'll see now if it worked or not.
