Speaking of that, I wonder why?...

Most of the big power diesels are runnin twin or triple turbos, but they don't do it the way we do in most cars. We have a turbo on each bank, the outlets connected in a T to the intake of the engine. The trucks & tractor pullers have the outlet of one turbo feeding the inlet of a second turbo, and then maybe the second one feeding a third one. WHY couldn't you connect two small turbos, one to each bank of a V8 engine with thier discharge pipes in a T to drive a third, bigger turbo, which is then connected to the intake manifold?

I don't think a gas engine could produce enough exhaust to push multiple turbos on a single bank. Just a guess.
