Modesto police: Mother, daughter, 13 year old arrested in purse snatching

MODESTO, CA - A Stanislaus County mother and daughter and a 13-year-old girl have been arrested on suspicion of robbing a 74-year-old woman Monday.
Modesto Police Department Sgt. Riock Armendariz said the victim was in the parking lot of a Target store at 3405 McHenry Avenue at 11:22 that morning when a young woman came up behind her and grabbed away her purse. The purse snatcher ran to a waiting white Mazda with several occupants inside.
As the Mazda's driver drove off, she hit rock landscaping and lost the front license plate on the car, <---FAIL! Armendariz said. The car also struck and killed a cat, <---WIN! witnesses said.
Responding officers traced the license plate to the registered owner. When Virginia Magana, 39, pulled up in the Mazda to her Modesto, Foster Drive home, officers were there <---WIN! and FAIL! to question and arrest her, Armendariz said.
Robbery detectives continued the investigation into the purse snatching and on Thursday, made two more arrests. Magana's daughter, Erica Jimenez, 18, of Ceres, and a 13-year-old girl from Modesto were taken into custody.
Magana is facing booking charges of robbery, conspiracy, and hit and run, and Jimenez is accused of robbery, conspiracy, and elder abuse, Armendariz said. Both were booked into the Stanislaus County Public Safety Center. The 13-year-old was arrested on suspicion of robbery, conspiracy, and elder abuse. She was booked into the Stanislaus County Juvenile Hall.
