I miss my 86 GN. I would pay 120k for that car in a heartbeat, only if I had the money.

I would pay it if I could in a blink of an eye. I did see a GNX with even less miles for sale on eBay a couple of years ago when we were thinking of buying a GN.
Truely an awesome machine!! Definately in my top 3 or 4 of my favorite cars.

The perfect car to park next to your Marauder!
They once described the GNX as "Darth Vader's car".

Not really anything to do with Cash 4 Clunkers.
Glad to see they are just going to keep it.

Dealer near me has done the same thing with a 2008 Mustang GT 500. Salesman had it sold for 90K and the owners said not enough. Speed forward 2011 new GT 500 way better and all so car sits in the back corner of their showroom. I'm working on getting them to sell it to me for $1. Think I'll have to wait a long time?:)

There wasn't a GT500 for 2004. I was selling Ford's back then, even sold a few 40th anniversary 2004 Mustang GT myself. I did like the rear spoiler delete and racing stripes that were the same color of the wheels.

I currently have an 86 GN and looking for a MM to add as a match. Guess I went the other way first :) I've been heavily involved with GNs for a couple of years and have had the opportunity of visiting Richard Clark's in Burlington, NC. Richard likely has the largest collection of GNs and GNXs in the world. He has three GNXs....One has 5 miles (it was trailored from the dealership), one is Stage 1 and one is his daily driver. He has roughly 20 to 30 GNs and warehouses and tractor trailers full of complete suspensions, interiors, engines, et al. He is certainly the king of GNs, and a very generous guy with his time and knowledge. He'll show you how to tear down a 2004r tranny as he holds seminars quite often and is recognized as a leader in these transmissions. As far as GNs goes, he's the king.

The GNX (maybe even a GN) is on my list of "cars I'd really like to own one day, but wouldn't be sad if I never owned it".

Sure, it's kinda cool and all, but just a special edition Buick. $120,000.00??? No thanks, i'll use that for my down payment on a Lambo and beat the snot out of your Buick. There's alot of MUCH cooler cars to be had for half that money!

True Bob. True. But a Lambo or almost any other similar car are a dime a dozen. I see them all summer. But I have never seen a GNX in person yet. Ill take the GNX, maybe even a second and mod it and take on the exotics. If money were that plentiful of course..

I love the Marauder because of the rarity, but try to never seem overly excited when talking about it because "it's just a Mercury" LOL.
You could buy a few really rare muscle cars in their prime for that dough. The GNX is just way to modern for that bread.

GNX clone is definitely the way to go....a real GNX is way to rare and expensive to risk as a fun driver.
I would lose my $hat if some "texting twit in a Toyota" hit me in my real, one of only 547, GNX.

I tangled with a GN at Cecil one afternoon. Our cars were so close. I'd win one, he'd get the next. Went back and forth like that. It was during those races I cracked off the 11.98 run. I'll never forget that car or that afternoon.

GNs are fun cars to drag. And relatively speaking inexpensive to build. For less than the price of a trilogy, you can turn a GN into a low 11 high 10 car and still have it very streetable... My car has run a best of 10.88 and it still drives on the road great. I just have to turn off the Alky and lower the boost with a couple of interior switches. (and take off the slicks of course)

"The odometer shows 164 miles, mostly racked up when the car is driven to the service bay for oil changes."
OK, I'm thoroughly mystified. Why would you change oil on a car that never gets driven?

Oils break down over time.
And this affects a car that is never driven how exactly? Without combustion happening, I suspect the oil breaks down in the crankcase about as much as it would sitting in the bottle. Me thinks this is more a matter of the dealer believing the factory oil change propaganda (every 3 months or 3,000 miles).

Mine is a '69 Cobra(1st year for the model), the 68 1/2 Torino GT or Mercury Cyclone are a rare Bird indeed... Ultra rare models in either '68 or '69 with the 428CJ are the plain Jane Fairlanes & Comets...

I guess that could be it, who would want to buy a car that has never been serviced. Either way, I'd like to have it.

The only concern I would have about buying his car is how are the seals and other rubber holding up? I'd think they're on their way to dry rot by now...but if the car isn't gonna be driven I guess it doesn't matter.
Wrecked GSX in a barn. What's that behind it, oh look, a 1970 Superbird.

Good point, without running the engine the oil should be OK for a lonnnng time.
I'm guessing that they started it up every 6 months or so to warm up the engine, charge the battery, lubricate the seals and give those valvesprings that were fully compressed for 6 months a little 'excercise'.
That particular GNX will never be driven because the new owner would take a huge hit on the car's value.
It's relegated to being a trailor/show queen forever......like I said: "GNX clone".....FTW!
