I have a question about my headlights, brights, and flash to pass. When I have the lights on st night, and pull back on the "flash to pass" lever, the lights seem to be brighter than when I push on the lever and leave the brights on. It seems when I FTP, the regular headlamps remain on while the bright bulbs are on. The fog lights are in the OFF position while I am doing this. I like the brightness when all are on in FTP, because I get the further aeway brightness, while the raod close in is still illuminated. Coes anyone know if this is normal, and, can I set it to leave all on in Brights mode?

Yes, it's normal, and no, I don't believe there's an easy way to use both sets of filaments at the same time.
A possible explaination ...
If you had the fog lamps on, then you're just noticing that they shut off when you hit the brights. Check it out sometime with someone else in the car ... when you have the regular lights and fog lamps on, then switch to brights ... the lamps go out.
I think you're seeing a "brighter" effect from the fog lamps illuminating the ground and area directly in front of the car.

The flash to pass does use both filaments, according to the wiring manual, unless said manual is wrong (and it could very well be, as I did find a few mistakes in the diagrams thus far, one of them with the foglamp-disabling relay).
I posted the explanation here:

And as for the actual foglamp cutoff relay and how it disables the fogs with the highbeams on:

I think the driving lights (low beams ) stay on when the FTP is used this would follow standard European rules. I believe it is State or probably federal law tha the Fog lamps go off when the high beams come on. Is there an after market lamp that can be added? I am also not happy with the throw of the high beams
as it is very easy to overdrive your lights.

Joe Clancy:
You might want to try replacing your headlamps with Sylvania SilverStars...they're a little pricey, but they make a big difference...
Check 'em out here (http://www.sylvania.com/auto/silverstar.htm)
