FOR ALL OF YOU THAT ONLY HAVE 2 OR EVEN ONLY ONE KEY TO YOUR MM, MAKE SURE YOU GET ANOTHER CUT BEFORE YOU LOSE ONE. IF YOUR GETTING A NEW MM, MAKE SURE YOU GET 3 KEYS WITH YOUR MM.
HERE IS WHY:
IF YOU ONLY HAVE ONE KEY AND GO TO GET ANOTHER CUT, YOUR CAR WILL HAVE TO BE HOOKED UP TO A MACHINE IN THE SHOP. THIS MEANS, YOUR KEY WILL COST YOU $25 AND AN HOUR LABOR TO PROGRAM THAT KEY TO YOUR CAR.
NOW IF YOU HAVE 2 KEYS, GET A THIRD, AND YOU CAN PROGRAM IT YOURSELF. HERE'S HOW:
STEP1. INSERT ALREADY PROGRAMMED KEY AND TURN UNTIL DASH LIGHTS COME ON.
STEP2. INSERT ALREADY PROGRAMMED KEY AND TURN UNTIL DASH LIGHTS COME ON.
STEP3. INSERT KEY AND TURN UNTIL DASH LIGHTS COME ON, THEN START CAR TO VERIFY THAT IT WORKS.

I have the two regular keys, plus the valet key. Will the valet key work as you suggest? ( by the way, your step 1 and 2 are the same??)
So, If I lose one of the regular keys, can I use the valet and the remaining regular, to program the new thir key?

01TrueBlueGT - In order to complete step one and two must use a different programmed key for each step? Thanks for the info.:D

YES, THE VALET WILL WORK, AS LONG AS IT WILL START THE CAR.
YES, STEP 1 AND 2 ARE THE SAME. MY BAD THOUGH, YOU NEED TO USE THE FIRST PROGRAMMED KEY IN STEP 1 AND THE OTHER PROGRAMMED KEY IN STEP 2, AND THE NEW UNPROGRAMMED KEY IN STEP 3. THANKS FOR POINTING THAT OUT. I SHOULD REALLY READ MY POSTS BEFORE I POST THEM..

Just because you in the Sunshine state with all those senior citizens, you don't have to shout on the board. We can hear you fine without the caps......

The instructions for programming keys are in the owners manual.
You can find the "jewelled" transponder blanks sometimes for a good price on eBay. Some places like Lowes will cut the key blank you bring in for free, then take it and follow the programming routine.

Yeah, i know about the caps... but our catalog system uses only caps and if I take it off, I'll forget to put it back on when I go to bill parts out on a RO...
Sorry though....:D
