Air & Space Museum

Got to visit the new air & space museum. Very impressive, got to see a SR-71 Blackbird (my favorite aircraft of all time), a Concorde, a Space Shuttle, the Enola Gay, a bunch more I can't remember. Always wanted to see a SR-71 in person, it was cool to be this close to the real thing.

Any Pictures?, would love to see them. Air and Space Museums are awesome. I had an oppotunity to hit the Wright Patterson Museum when I was a teenager and the old airforce junkyard in Tucson, which was really something

I'm about 45 minutes away .... where are you staying/how long?

I took a 90 day temporary job in Sterling, I was working and staying a couple of exits north of Dulles Airport. The plan was to go up there 4 days a week but the first trip was for 8 days. Not sure if I'll be going back now, when I returned home Monday I found that my clearance had been granted and I would be starting my new full-time job on the 18th so I turned in my 2 week notice Tuesday.

Air and Space museum is awesome, and totally blew me away. I went there while I was in DC with a few coworkers, and it was amazing to see the actual aircraft that were part of aviation history sitting right in front of us.

When I went there the Enola gay was there. Floored me. Have been to Pearl Harbor several times, so that completed the journey.

When I was there in '06, there was a North American B-45C Tornado 4-engine jet bomber stuck in the corner---I flew the recon version --RB-45C-- out of RAF Schulthorpe in the 50's--it was the first of the breed--then came the RB-66, RB-47, RB-57, U-2 and SR71 . I flew about 200 hours in the bird--way ahead of it's time --would out-run and out- climb the F-86 or Mig 17 and had a service ceiling of 46,ooo feet---one helluva bird. The Enola Gay was still there when I was there. If you get the chance--don't miss the museum, Maury
