Nothing against Colex but it's hard to beat the looks of a badgeless grill and the DIY badge mod for the trunk emblem. They should have come from the factory like this.

I've got a Colex on the front and a DIY badge on the trunk, but +1 on your comments.

Mine is like this too, with a center cap inserted after I Dremeled out the waterfall, but mine is painted black around the godshead. Badgeless front.

Thx Mike I went with carmotorsports. I only ordered the steering wheel emblem. The trunk and hood emblems are on back order according to the site. They are great quality. I have their steering wheel emblem but am not using it as it does not lay flush over the OEM steering emblem and I did not want to pry the OEM off. There are some members who had no trouble with the fit. This may be due to differences in the individual badges and/or steering wheels. In anycase, there was no way to make the badge work in my car. The grill emblems are a do-it -yourself project and the outcome is determined by how skilled you are with power tools (dremel ). Some come out looking "factory, and some don't.

This is how you hope to have the project turn out! Rex, can you describe the exact steps taken to achieve this professional result?

For the steering wheel badge, I am plenty happy with AG3R (?) stickers from here. Very high quality.

Thanks for the complement, but it isn't mine. :o I cut and pasted the pic from this link, which has some additional pics of the preparatory steps:
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=64068

There was also a DIY link to making these badges posted up a couple years ago, but I wasn't able to locate it. (tried "Search" but no luck; go figure...)

Anyway, here's what I did on mine (with the same results):

You'll need to obtain a wheel center cap, either order an OEM or pick up a used one from somewhere. (A tip of the hat to frdwrnch for supplying mine.)

I taped off the trunk area around the badge, and the outer "ring" portion of the badge as a precautionary measure prior to starting the Dremel work.

I fitted a small cutting wheel into my Dremel, and then carefully started cutting the waterfall out of the badge center. It goes pretty quick, as it's plastic. Cut the emblem down to flush level.

Blow out/clean out the cuttings, then do a dry fit of the center cap. I had to do some additional trimming of the waterfall contact points, and a tiny touch up of the perimeter of the center cap (along the flat side, where it fits into the badge) to get it to fit properly.

I then applied a light coating of acetone-based plastic cement to both the badge and the contact side of the center cap. After this, I inserted the center cap into the badge, adjusted the cap to properly position it, and then used a large carpenter's clamp to appy pressure to the assembly for a couple hours until the glue set.

Not much to it, but IMO, the best looking trunk badge option for our cars.
