Remote start was not a factory option. The dealer installed it after the car was delivered to it. I don't have one so I can't help you. What's the make and model? That might help in getting you an answer.

It sounds like you have an aftermarket remote start unit which was most likely installed by a dealer.
Most aftermarket units need a bypass module. Inside the bypass module will be a cloned ignition key. There will be an "antenna" wire from the bypass module to the ignition switch (this wire will be wrapped around the ignition switch). This provides the signal from the key inside the bypass module to the ignition switch, completing the circuit allowing you to start the car.
The key could be missing from the bypass module.
The "antenna" wire could be broken.
The "antenna" wire could be not in the proper position around the ignition switch.
By you inserting a key in the ignition switch you are completing the circuit, allowing the car to start.
Pm me if you need more info.

you have the same one as me. you need to push the blue button twice to start the car first off. if it still dont start does it do anything? also it would be considered a factory remote start, even tho it is made by audiovox it has the ford logo on the main control brain and both the control brain and Pats modual have ford part numbers.. push it twice and see if anything happens, let us know, it could be a few different problems. also after you push the blue button twice see if the security light on the dash flashes fast.

Also it probably does not have a key in a box, its more then likely a pats bypass module

when i press the button down twice like you say the radio and dash lights come on. and the blue light on the dashboard blinks as if i just locked the doors.when i place my key in the ignition it will remote start.

i would follow fastblkmercs advice, your problem sounds to be pats related

Yeah, the first thing I would check are the fuses in the brain, you need to remove the kick pannel to gain access under the dash including the big metal pannel get under there up on the left side, up and to the left of the brake petal you will see the module, it will be kinda stuffed up there sideways probably zip tied, snip the zipties pull it down and unplug it there are 3 harnesses on one side and a little 2 wire harness on the back, push the little release thing to unplug it don't pull on the wires, once you get the modual out there is a cover on top that can pop off, you carefully pry it up with a butter knife check all the fuses in there if you find a burnt one that's probably your problem. If not put it back together carefully you will see a big chip with about 100 pins or so on the lid you pried off, push the cover on evenly so you don't bend them.
After you put the module back in the car let it hang down, now you need a test light. Ground the test light prob the purple wire in the harness coming out of the control brain and try to start the car with the remote, you should get power to that wire when the remote start brain tries to enguage the starter, if you get no power to that wire the modual is bad. If you get power good, time for the next step, for this you will need a volt meter now your checking for power going to your pats module, on the front main harness side of the controller you will see a small plug in with one red wire and one black wire under the main harness, that goes to the pats modual under the dash, you want to see if you have power and ground. Set the volt meter to volts and stick the black probe into the back side of the plug on the black wire, and red on the red, don't let the one probe probe both or you will short the brain out. After you have both red on red and black on black get a buddy to try to start the car with the remote (2 pushes on blue button) for a moment there should be voltage, make sure you have proper connectivity with the probes in the back side of the plug since the wires are too small to probe, if you don't have voltage your main brain is dead, 100 bucks from ford. If you do have voltage good, its your pats modual. 40 bucks from ford. Check all that out then get back to us, then ill explain how to replace the pats and program it, its easy.

Or you could take the gamble and order a new pats modual ford part number 1L2Z-19G365-AB the part number will change up to a slightly different one but when you get it you will see a tic tac size black box a plug that plugs into the brain and a loop thing that gets placed on the ignition.
You need to remove the screws on the bottem of the column cover take bottem cover off the turn ignition to the run position there is a small ballpin you need to push up with something like a test light point or something skinny, push that ball in and pull the ignition out, now you can remove the top cover. Around the ignition on the car you will see a grey like antenna loom stuck onto the ignition leave it for now, do a rough install of the new pats basically plug it into the brain and the loop the new one came with sticks onto the ignition then the ignition slides back it, don't undo the sticky tape yet just place the loop in place then put ignition in and let it just sit there. Now you will need two programed keys and the remote handy timing is critical at this part what you need to do is
1 insert first key turn it to the run position for about 3 seconds or when the red security light goes off.
2 as soon as you remove the first key within 5 seconds insert the second key turn the ignition to the run position till the security light goes off (about 3 seconds) remove the key.
3 within 5 seconds of removing the second key hit the blue button twice the car will start, within 5 seconds after it starts hit the brake pedal to stop the car then attempt to start the car with the remote a few times to make sure its working ok. If its all good take the ignition out use the alcohol tube that comes with the pats kit and clean the flat surface for the antenna ring, when you install the ring make sure the wires point down the column the same as the old ring, oh ya remove the old ring follow the wires down to where its all taped into the harness then just cut it, you only have one chance at sticking on the new ring so take your time and MAKE SURE ITS CENTERED. Then carefully put the top cover on making sure you don't pull the pats antenna wire or pinch the ring (its pretty tricky don't rush) then once its on slide the ignition back intake the old module out and just cut all the old module wires don't cut the tape off that wraps the harness it will be a mess if you do, just cut the old ones then put new pats where old one was and tape the new pats wires out of the way, put everything back together done.

Mine is aftermarket dealer installed but looks like a code alarm....mine remote starts by pusing the lock button first then the blue button....wierd....but easier to not accidently start it I guess.
I have a problem with mine also...the interior light does not turn on when I disarm it and the EATC does not turn on until I put the key in and turn it....it used to turn on the interior lights when disarming and the EATC turned on when I remote started it. Never did anything about it....the alarm still works and the kill switch still works so I wasnt too worried about it.

check the internal fuses inside the brain module. there are about 8 fuses. 2 igntion fuses 2 for the EATC lights etc.
