Somebody posted a reply this morning here on MM.net about the current 2003 Marauder prices. He mentioned a $5,000 rebate and $2,000 dealer cash.

This reminded me of a person on another web site who said such deals have never existed, that all the advertised prices are is a bait and switch tactic. So, I went looking for his stupid statement on the other web site.

Well, here's the trivia......

1) Go to www.crownvic.net

2) use the search feature.....

3) so your computer won't get bogged down for hours, search the "Lizard Lounge" only......

4) use the search word MARAUDER.

5) use a time search of 3 months

6) view the results. :)

They use the word Marauder in replies so often it took me an hour to find the remark I was looking for.

Thereafter I was afraid to click "search all forums".

It's pretty clear on my end. Maybe you need a new monitor?

Yes, but I think someone also pointed out that those figures were taken from Edmunds, and are not quite accurate.

It was a chilly autumn day. She was warming herself up with the exhaust. :)

Our last local advertisement for a new 2003 Marauder was on Saturday, November 1, 2003. I still have a copy of it here beside me.

It says list price $35,045, rebates & discounts $8,665, for a sale price of $26,380.

It also mentions if not qualified for the "owner loyalty" rebate, there is a special rebate to replace it. The $8,665 also includes a $500 AARP discount, so Mercury is obvioulsy once again targeting age 50 and over buyers. It also includes a $500 military member rebate.

I do not see any rebates or dicounts that I would not qualify for.

Where the hell can anyone get almost 9 grand in rebates!? I mean if I can find a nice used one in a year and a half when I go to college....

Are you sure they're trying to attract older customers? I don't think it's been working, aren't the most people that buy it under 50 or 55? They're not on average 63, like it was when we bought our Marquis! I thought the AARP discount is for every car?

I didn't have a problem picking up my current marauder for just a hair over $26k +TTL.

Those of us who bought some of the first 2003 models know all too well now how useful Vaseline is. :)

I paid $1,000 over invoice. A real raping! :mad2:

Ford offers the AARP rebate on almost everything, it really has nothing to do with the target audience.

They are hoping with that advertising that most people will not qualify for all the discounts. Then along comes Logan with his AARP card :lol
