So there's been some construction at our building below us on the first floor. Rumors have been circulating that someone has built a jeep in the building and now has no way to get it out. I couldn't believe it so I poked my head in there today and sure enough, surrounded by lab benches and electronics equipment is a 4x4 jeep!

Wow. That person must be the biggest idiot on the planet. Building a Jeep in a building and the whole time not even thinking about how to get it out? That is just sad. I always measure before I do anything...

It's a defense contractor so I'm not going to snap any pics inside. I'll try and snap a pic when they roll it out of the new garage door their cutting into the side of the building.

Is this someone's personal project? Is it a vintage/classic Jeep? A restore? A military project with lasers? If I started building a vehicle at work I imagine my manager or HR would have been involved a long time ago. This is odd.

Come on. Get the right group of grunts on it, and they'll get it out of there in no time.

I did work at a retired American Airlines pilot's house who hobby built small fixed wings in his basement to pass the time. Ofcourse, he had a dual french door walk out basement to get the fusealge in, but from there, it would be built to 100% besides exterior paint. He would just detach the wings, roll it out, and have a tow truck winch it up the hill onto the truck and off to the hangar for paint, fluids, and finally FAA inspection. Pretty cool.

Someone here posted a pic of a lambo kit IIRC being towed out of a hole in the basement wall of a house. That was a really cool thread!

Looks like a personal project car. Black wrangler with a smallblock chevy motor. Mudder tires and lots of chrome on the motor. Definitely not military issue but I have a feeling taxpayers are paying for the door.

Henry Ford did the same thing.
