But when it's time to change the oil, it's TIME TO CHANGE THE OIL...even if it's 20 degrees outside.

I was like that when I was younger, lay in the snow and ice to fix a car, change oil, and save a few bucks, now I wish I never had. You will feel it when you get older, believe me.

Rather feel it when I get old, than feel:
1. the ouch in my pocketbook when I pay someone for a synthetic blend oil change @ 7qts + filter.
2. like a wimp because I paid someone to do something I can easily do...especially since I'm not a GREAT wrench turner, it's nice to know I can do at least the basics.

why not do the oil change in the nice dry garage?

The Magnum is parked in the unheated/detached 1-car garage most of the time, and with the weather we've been having, it's actually very wet on the garage floor right now. Besides that, much of my "outside stuff" is crammed in that garage so as to avoid getting beat up by the elements. There's really only room for the car to be pulled in and out, which that picture does not show at all, sorry to say.
Doing the change in the driveway gave me more space and it was way drier. I laid a tarp down, and then used my dad's old Army blanket (tarp on one side, insulation in the middle, blanket material on the other side) to lay on.

I have a bum arm due to a repair to the bicep, and the local ford dealer only charges twelve bucks labor to do the oil change! So I took them my mobil one synthetic and the ford racing filter I had bought from them, gave the money up and stayed warm and bull crapped with the young lad changing my oil while I scoped out the underside of my car while it was up on the lift. Warm, dry, and only twelve bucks! Couldn't beat it.:bandit:

Yeah, me too!
I'll change anyone's oil in the cold for less than that, including material!

The guy that does my work has a 2000 Lightning, a Cobra, and two Fox bodies, really likes my MM, and is always fair in the price. Just had a cooling system flush, service, thermostat change, reservoir cap change, for $230, including all parts.

That sounds more than reasonable.

Just had both MM's done last week. Don't know the cost, don't care it's cheaper than new motors and it's only once a year.

I need to perform oil changes on two cars, coolant flush on two cars, transmission flush on one car..too cold to work out there, so I'm waiting for the spring.

I just pull my cars into the hi-bay/shop to do oil changes. Especially when it's -1* F like it was this morning. It's a beautiful thing.

I used cardboard, cheap 1 time use, padding for the back and easy slide surface. Throw away after each use.
