States Ranked: Smartest to Dumbest
The smartest state in the union is Massachusetts. The dumbest, for the second consecutive year, is New Mexico. These are the findings of the Education State Rankings, a survey by Morgan Quitno Press of the public school systems in all 50 states. States were graded on a variety of factors based on how they compare to the national average. These included such positive attributes as per-pupil expenditures, public high school graduation rates, average class size, student reading and math proficiency, and pupil-teacher ratios. States received negative points for high drop-out rates and physical violence.
How does YOUR state rank?

Know why Nevada is rated 49th?
Because the state is always full of stupid people losing their money at casinos. :)
I have to seriously argue about Massachusetts being smart. They keep electing Ted Kennedy.

The District of Columbia gets it's own representation, auto tags and other perks to seperate itself from "the states", But when it comes to this type of list... it disappears into Maryland. Hmmmm, I smell a conspiracy.

The two smartest states share some laws about what a marriage is; that I don't agree with, so I prefer to live in dumb Florida, amazing what bright educated people consider to be ok.

Just when you thought you had seen it all....... (true story)
I just found out why Alabama is rated at 46th dumbest state in the nation...... on another bullentin board a guy posted his vehicle manufacturer's door sticker GVWR (4825 pounds) as the actual weight of his car. This person claims to be a Ford mechanic in Alabama..... makes you wonder whose hands you leave your car in at a dealership, huh?
quote: ".....Geeze that thing's gotta fly, my SHO weighs 4825 and with only 250hp 240ftlb it's still fast as hell, 14 sec in the 1/4 mile, 2.3 sec 60'"
"....Robert, did you mistype the SHlO's weight?"
"....Nope sure didnt bro [4825] GVW
Went and looked at door sticker again to be sure. Soon as my camera batteries recharge, I'll post a pic of the sticker."
".....Here we go for the non believers,
(image attached)"
"....GVWR is the gross vehicle weight rating, it means that's the maximum amount of weight your car is designed to carry, not how much it actually weighs..."

Mark Twain was awesome. I like this quote.
"Suppose I was a member of Congress. Now suppose that I was an idiot. But I repeat myself."

I know why Nevada is ranked 49th, because what happens in LV, stays in LV. For some reason when I get back from there, I seem to lost all memories from my trip!
