Hi , I Thought this was ODD in the parking lot going to Sport Check on Friday in our -25 winter.

The car is worth about 90 gs here.
Any thoughts on it. :D

Why not? I'd drive the hell out of it. I'd DD a z06, in fact that's my plan in the next couple years. Put the right tires on it and it isn't a big deal, I've spent quite a bit of time driving them and it would be a great car to drive all year. I've never understood driving a nice car in the summer and a pos in the winter :shake: Maybe it's an american thing I dunno

I'd drive it as well. Just an expensive chevy? Any modern car should be driven and enjoyed, especially if purchased new. Gonna lose your tail end on depreciation anywho.

could be an exec driving it ,could be an exec putting the 7k miles on it before a customer gets the what ever plan discount, could be a lease in which case they will have a new one in 36months any how!

Could have driven it there and not known it was supposed to snow.

I'd drive snow rain ice and falling meatballs. It's just a frign car. Hell. I'd drive a F-40 in the winter. Enjoy it while you got it. Today, tomorrow or next week may be your last day.

A few days ago. I just saw a new 911 Turbo driving in a snow storm. That's so awesome.

So one guy says it and everyone's on the band-wagon..

I think it should be put away in hibernation until spring. The car has to be a pain to drive in snow..I would feel disgusted knowing there's gonna be salt on the undercarriage...and why risk ruining/wrecking it by a spin-out or someone else hitting you..

My '77 handles the snow better than the Marauder. Maybe he owns a Marauder.

Maybe thats his winter rat? I remember in HS we had a teacher that drove her rag top vette year round. Just put snows on it for the winter.

There's a guy that lives over by me with a Z06 and parks it in the street and takes it out in the winter. Hes also the guy that is constantly stuck in the middle of the street and ripped the tail panel off 3 times.

Me two, and the damn thing has thrown another CEL while I was in the hospital :mad2: I may just drive it through their showroom window. Once I'm cleared to drive again, uh, don't know when that'll be either. Guess I'll just sic Beep on em. That can be a fate worse than death...

Call them with that specific threat. Once they know that you mean business this time, they may have a change of attitiude...:D

Though we had it fixed this last time :mad2: This all very frustrating. Its the damn gasahol we are forced to use. Now they are upping it to 15% alcohol. They even admit it wrecks engines and drops MPG 5-10% so what friggin good is it? Whine, we have to get off oil, whine, we have to get off oil, whine.... How bout some cheese to go with whine? Rat bastages...

BTW, I did threaten the insurance guy with dealing with HER or me when I hit the deer and they pooched the repair back in 07. He chose me. He already had teeth marks from his 1st encounter with Beep.

This guy would!
And look what happens when you drop the hammer on a 500HP car while trying to race down a 25 degree street:

How well do the cars hold up to the salt? The few I have seen lately looked like they had a cancer that could not economically be stopped on the underside.

Last year when I was in Minneapolis in Feb the guy driving ran 3 red lights in a row, driving 15mph. The street was down hill. When I pointed it out he said "there was ice and I could not stop so I just kept going".

Perhaps between the salt cancer and accidents those can afford a winter beater drive one, maybe the term beater speaks for itself?

I wouldn't drive any nice car in the snow. I haven't driven my Marauder since July due to some recent road construction that has left me with 5 miles of gravel to deal with dailly. Rock chips suck.

The reason I won't drive my car in the snow is simple: I paid for it. Why would I let rust eat it alive? That's what $400 Crown Vics are for. I don't allow mice into my home for the same reasons. I worked hard for it and I'm not going to throw it away.

Parking my car over the winter months is just a form of maintenance and I don't see it as being any different than regular oil changes.

Cars are getting much better with regards to corrosion resistance but still isn't good enough. My mom had a new '65 Galaxy and by the time it had 44k miles on it, the trunk floor was completely gone. When she moved to Minnesota from Illinois, she had to put her luggage in the backseat. The car was 4 years old.

It used to be pretty common to see an '85 Escort (in 1990) with fist sized rust holes in it. Rusted out junk, on the day you made the last payment. Now that I think about it, I can't remember the last time I seen an '89 or older Escort still moving under it's own power. Rust kills.

Typically, if it's ten years old in Minnesota, it's full of rust. Floors and trunks go first. After that, body panels start to go. Next you start loosing electrical grounds. That's when things get real interesting. Battery fires, gremlins, ect. Been there, done that.

My car has ZERO rust. I powerwash the underside religiously! Not to mention there is so many layers of polish already on the car. i didn't drive it the 2nd and 3rd year of ownership and finally after seeing the prices nosedive, I said this is just plain silly, enjoy the Merc, then move on.

I remember when I was little kid, maybe 5 or 6 and uncle talking about a "frozen" Vette hitting a pole and shattering into hundreds of pieces due to the extreme cold that night. The drunk lived. He said it was a sight he'd never forget.

I thought Z06's had the sweet little scoop in along the front of the hood and the Z06 badges with super dope-crazy big brakes.
Anyways, who would drive a C6 Corvette like that in the winter anyways?!
Tarts.

My friend just bought a new 2011 Grand Sport and he will DD the hell out of it. He also has two other cars (700-800hp s/c Camaro and a Dodge Neon SRT4).
