this morning i woke up to 5 unauthorized charges to my account for 40 bucks each. i was on the phone for 30 mins with paypal sorting this out.

might want to consider changing your password.

Any unusual/suspicious programs running on your computer, internet connection problems? We've been seeing a lot of keylogging, spyware bugs infecting systems lately and their cc's being charged with unauthorized charges. Nothing worse than something on your system logging every keystroke you make and sending it out to others on the net.

How'd you find out? An email saying your transaction was complete, or did you just happen to log on to paypal?

yeah i got 5 emails about 10 mins apart from each other.

im not sure of anything, the guy i spoke to at paypal told me to change my password.

yea while back i got hit for 90$. showed up on my online banking i called and they refunded me.

I've been using PayPal for 12 years, no issues yet, knock on wood.

Been with PayPal about 10 years and so far so good. They refunded my money from a bogus seller. That was my only issue to deal with.

If I change my password, how will that keep them from hacking your account?

They don't hack your account.

They gain access to your password by you logging into a fake PayPal and giving it to them. Changing your password keeps them from logging in unless you do it again on the fake one.

Always use a 'strong' password folks.

ie. Letter/Number combinations using caps along with special characters.

That doesn't make a difference if you get keylogged, which is most likely what happened here.

Having a complicated password just makes it harder for people you know to guess and easier for you to forget. Unless, of course, you're a dumbass and you write it down somewhere, which completely defeats the purpose of having one in the first place.

We had a lady bring her laptop in 2 weeks ago for a virus cleaning and she had a list taped to the top of the laptop with every single account and password, including bank account! :shake: ^ post #5, keylogging mentioned... ;)
