The Toyota faithful are foaming at the mouth over the new Lexus LFA "supercar".

It's a steal at only....hang on to your panties......$375,000.....:eek :....:awe:

Let me see if I am doing my math correctly.....

:hmmm:

I could buy the following:

- FORD GT; low mileage previously owned @ $150,000
- 2012 Shelby GT500 convertible, loaded @ $ 57,000
- 2012 BOSS 302 Laguna Seca edition @ $ 48,000

AND have $120,000 left over for insurance, mods and fuel.

OR buy a Lexus "supercar" that looks like a 370Z with a crappy body kit and an Audi R8 rear valence.

If you rearrange the letters 'LFA'...you get 'LAF'.

How appropriate.

Looks like a 350z. Pretty stylish, but too heavy for the wallet

The Toyota faithful are foaming at the mouth over the new Lexus LFA "supercar".

Motor Trend and Automobile magazines did a review of the Lexus LFA in the November or December 2010 issues. My son and I cracked up when we saw the $375K price tag.

I am with you Joe. I could fill the garage AND the driveway with lot of toys instead of an overpriced, underwhelming Toyota.

For almost half the price and a mere few tenths slower, you can get a GT-R.

I'm still partial to a FORD GT with a twin turbo kit....1,000+ HP on the stock engine and it is still bullet proof.....:bows:

Good calls, you could get both and have gas money left over.

The British Top Gear loved the performance of the car, not too pleased with styling and they also laughed at the price tag saying can you imagine waiting to get your car from the parking valet. "Who's the idiot with the $400K Lexus" and raising your hand.

I too would have a laundry list of cars to buy. Aston Martin V-12 Vantage, '12 Boss Mustang, and a new loaded S.H.O. and still have $90K left over for insurance and fuel.

Funny thing is the 100k ZR1 is quicker in the 1/4 mile.
They are trying too hard to get the $ they spent on 10 years in the making.

I'm really underwhelmed by the specs, even disregarding the outrageous price.

This just looks like lower-tier "supercar" performance.

It doesn't help, as others have more or less mentioned, that even your typical street cars are reaching performance that can rival "supercars" in most respects.

The article referred to a "UK Launch Price" of 368,000 euro, that is $503,600 using today's exchange rate. Is there a $128,600 premium to get it in Britain? Either way, it is a little pricey for a Toyota and has a very good chance of being recalled!:D

For that price, you could get three of these:

Shall we bet on what the first recall will be? Recalled for underwhelming curb appeal, badges falling off in parking lot, because its one expensive toyota?

It seems that Toyota is foolish enough to try the old trick:

"Well in order to gain instant respect as a supercar, we should have an outrageous price tag!!"

Remember when Cadillac wanted to "play with the big boys" and tried to sell the underpowered Allante for $55,000 back in '87?

Remember when Honda tried to sell the underpowered NSX for $90,000?

Toyota should have priced it sanely and then have the car magazines raving about how good it is and what a performance bargain it is.

Price is ridiculous, car should be priced to compete against the GT-R. When you think of $300k plus, you think exotic everything, from engine to body lines to the name..LFA is boring, and this car's engine is the only thing going for it.

Joe you realize what they could do to justify that price, don't you? Yep. Portholes.

Nice! Makes me wonder if they will ever start naming cars after abbreviations like that or TTYL, IDK, OMG, or PIIHB.

PIIHB.

This one was kept in mind when they decided a price. :D

nissan gt-r msrp is around $93,000.

i'm sure anyone spending $400,00 on the LFA already has a stable of fine cars, and doesn't give a **** how to split up that much on 3 or 4 other cars.

Changed my mind on the McLaren (a little research of the build number revealed driver Dick Brown was killed driving it during practice for the Can-Am race at Mosport in 1970). Actually, Id rather have this one anyway. In my opinion one of the coolest racecars ever, right up there with a Porsche 917 and the GT40.
