This was an e-mail I got from Advance Auto on the third and I see thier site is back up this AM.
I never recieved an e-mail from them, despite this e mail and another form I filled out from thier temporary page that was alerting thier customers that the site was down.
So I'm thinking everyone qualifies! LOL I hope it helps someone here to save a few sheckels!;
Yesterday we experienced a technical issue that may have prevented some customers from completing their online orders properly.
We wanted to take this time to apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and let you know that we’ve resolved the issue.
To show our appreciation, we’d like to offer you an exclusive online coupon: $20 off a purchase of $50 or more, valid now through February 10, 2011.* To redeem, just enter promo code EM525 at checkout (http://links.mkt1286.com/ctt?kn=8&m=4747091&r=Njg3MjUwNTU2OAS2&b=0&j=MTcyNDEyMTQ2S0&mt=1&rt=0).

Their site being down yesterday cost them around $450 from me.. I use their site daily as well as NAPA for parts on the truck and equipment fleet at work to compare prices and availability. Instead I had to call them and get one of the rudest counter guys I have ever dealt with!

I was trying to order a gas tank and complete fuel pump assembly for a truck at work and we all know there is MANY options when it comes to pump assemblies. So all I wanted was a few different options to relay back to the boss. This could have been done quick and swift, printed out and turned in, instead I get attitude and boss gets chicken scratch scribble turned in..

Rock auto won.

I sent Advance an e-mail to show my dissapointment on how they did not notify me as both of methods of contact were utilized.
In a polite manner I told them thier selection of brake parts for recent model Marauders' fails.
Rock Auto FTW !!!

I tried to complete an online order to get the discount.
I had so much trouble with the site the Chat help line referred me back to the store to get the issue resolved.
I called the store and they will honor the discount in person if you call in advance.

I did get a notice from Advance that they were back on line.
The site was slow and would not let me complete my order due to low inventory(1qt remaining) .The guy on thier chat line claimed if I called my local store,
the manager could use his discretion to authorize the on line discount.
When I phoned I told them my scenario, the manager agreed to the discount.
I asked on the phone if the inventory was correct and was told ,"I'm sure we have more than one quart of transmission fluid!"
Once in the store, I discovered that the inventory stated on line was in fact correct , only one qt. left.
I asked the clerck if he could substitute another brand of Mercon V for the same cost as the house brand , since I was told moments ago by the store manager that the product was available.
The guy act as if I am stealing his money!
In front of three other employees, as politely as I could muster, I rolled out the series of events that led me thus far.
He retorted, "You want us to sell you the name brand for the same as the house brand?"
The manager could hear our voices escalating and jumped in to offer his input.
"I heard you call Pete our store manager, and he said he would give the discount , we just sold our last 20 quarts of that brand."
He followed with, "I will give you the Valvoline for the same price as the Advance brand".
So in the end I got 9 qts. of Mercon V and a fuel filter for less than 40.00 with taxes.
It was a little hairy for a few moments, but reluctantly they did what I consider to be the right thing, preserving a customer for future business.
They also sent me another 20.00 off 50.00 purchase on line coupon.

They best watch their attitudes! Like I said, besides my personal, and side work spenditure, which is ALOT.... I also service:

4 vans
1 suburban
2 cars
5 plow trucks
1 international semi
4 trailers
4 snowmobiles and 2 quads (boss's play toys)
kamotsu 200 back hoe
kamotsu ck35 skidsteer
bobcat 773 skidsteer
bobcat 337 back hoe
and a supply of tools and equipment to make anyone drool.

As you can see there is CONSTANT ordering daily and website being down I can handle BUT I don't take well to attitudes like both of us have dealt with.

lol, customer support in-store at most auto places is kinda like expecting le cordon bleu chefs at mcdonalds. Most people I've seen and dealt with know NOTHING about cars, save for maybe what gets drilled into them by working there for an extended period of time. Most I've seen are high-school kids that know jack-****.

Despite NAPA being typically more expensive around this area, I actually enjoy going to one near where I live because it is almost always staffed by older gentlemen that, to me at least, appear to have spent the majority of their lives working seriously in the automotive industry in some form or fashion.
