Those aren't hipsters.

Songs about losing doing it... for the first time. This one is my favorite, but it's about taking the girls virginity. 70s Punk Rock FTW.

Wonderful !!!! It is amazing what passes for music today. Guess the record companies will do just about anything to make a buck. TV & Video too. Not sure who would go out and buy this trash; but I think it doesn't speak well of the youth of the country that enjoys this crap. Just another indicator of the way we are heading. Its embarrassing.

The intention of the first video in this thread is to mock the very thing you do not like, which I find to be just as disturbing. It shows that its ok to make fun of most of the lyrics in rap music which mostly talks about sex, hating authority, and all the cool things the singers own... sounds like the 1950s all over again... gyrating hips and all.

Hey now, don't lump all of the youth into one group I personally hate "the Drama" along with most friends I have. That's like saying all people over 50 live off of Fox News, oatmeal, and fear; and want nothing more than whippersnappers to say off of their lawns.

lol, I gotta be honest guys, I'm little disappointed how many people are taking this video seriously. It is a joke, and there are a series of "music videos" just like it that are also jokes.

If people are actually looking up to this as a role model, or the things that this video is making fun as role models, then A: we're talking about absolute idiocy here in these people that look up to this and B: the guys that make these videos are the least of your concerns when it comes to turning society into a bunch of degenerates.

Ok, I'm in the "older crowd" here, 55 years young. I certainly can appreciate a beautiful woman of any age. And I'm a craddle robber for my wife. Well, atleast I was at the time. Now, I've tried watching Jersey Shore, wanted to gouge my eyes out even though I've been and partied there not all that long ago. I completely fail to see the attraction to a 4' 8" breast named Snookie. Fugly.

I thought it was funny, I'm not a big fan of most music acts today as they are all no talent hacks that couldn't create a song without autotune and a computer. I think this song makes fun of that fact as most of todays crap all sounds the same.

"I'm on a boat" is still the best though

I couldn't agree with you more, but you're forgetting one thing. All music sounds the same from each era. Beach Boys and Jan and Dean sound exactly a like, Beatles and Monkeys, Nirvana and Bush... it all comes down to a new band/artist that can sell/set the new standard for everyone to copy.

Sometimes I don't mind, but anything today forget it... unless it's a local act or something off a small label. There is new music I enjoy, just nothing on your top 40.

I gotta be honest here junior. Jokes are supposed to make you laugh. I didn't laugh .... not once.

Surely then you wouldn't go so far as to assume that if you didn't find it funny on a personal level, it can't possibly be at least an attempt at humor and therefore in the very least not meant to be taken seriously?

Similarly, you wouldn't assume that one joke that was not funny for you should come to represent an entire generation's standard for humor, and therefore assume that an entire generation lacks a real sense of humor?

You kiddin' me? The Three Stooges is a lot more enjoyable than Dude Wheres my car or any of that BS aimed at my generation. As the baby-boomer generation and pre baby boomer generation goes away... the dryer the humor goes.

Where is Redd Fox and Richard Prior when we need them? Oh yea it's all about looks. If the actors are pretty we can forgive them for their lack of humorous talent.

I agree with MrBluGruv though. Don't base one thing on a whole generation.

That's even more messed up. :shake:

Certainly not; but I would think that by age 21 or 25 or 28 that many in your generation would have progressed beyond 5th grade humor which has saturated the entertainment media for the past 10 years. That's the level of funny in that video .... more focus on the shock effect of the word "p3n!s" and sex in a video making the rounds.

But I think that this has less to do with the sense of humor of an entire generation than it does with the entire concept of what's appropriate, prudent and in good taste. I do not believe in the "the cruder- the better" philosophy.

Even Richard Pryor, Redd Fox and George Carlin understood this. Their funniest skits were never the crude ones.

Where would many, not all, of today's sitcoms get laughs if it weren't for jokes about masturbation and the old stand by catch phrase, "that sucks".

Makes me just roar with laughter everytime I hear "that sucks".

(Just curious, how do you parents with younger children explain that particular line to your kids?)

MrBluGruv

than it does with the entire concept of what's appropriate, prudent and in good taste. I do not believe in the "the cruder- the better" philosophy.

This I can totally agree with. Even on things that are funny to me, I still typically distinguish between what's funny and what's appropriate for the occasion. In my case though, it doesn't detract from how funny I find the material, just my opinion of the "comedian", whether they are one or not.

I think what makes it funny for a lot of people isn't the toilet-jokes aspect of it, but more the twisted irony of it. I hate to sound like a pretentious douche, but I think the best way to describe it is meta-humor, it's funny because of the situation that has made it funny, not really the material itself.

Back on topic, I didn't find the video funny. So what? There are plenty others and plenty of other songs. I know where to find what I wanna hear and watch. Simple as that.

Talking about generations over one video... seesh!

To make fix this generation gap lets listen to a song by Korn in a lounge style...

We can listen to this while drag racing or moshing. The rest can enjoy a day at the country club or a night of bingo.

I definitely agree with you Blue, the lowbrow humor has been running rampant, though that is where they make the most money, and makes for the highest rated events, so as long as the market demands it, that's what they'll put out.

Take when NYPD Blue came out, there was all the hubbub about the nudity, and then there was a race from shows to see who could top them because NYPD Blue got the ratings (though more so because it was a quality show) but a lot of people tuned in for the shock value.

It's the same thing with the humor of today, people who enjoy it, watch because they want to see what happens next. People who don't enjoy also watch because they want to see what happens next. Then theres the people that just tune it out.

Saw a commercial on TV last night (forgot the product) that was based on two people having a date while in between them was a "suck o meter" showing that the date was going downhill.

Well, of course, the meter was not reacting to the date but to something that the girl could correct by taking the product.

Can't remember exactly, but the commercial's end catch-all phrase was something like " X makes things suck less".
