Hey South Florida Drivers! Look what I just found. Just FYI. So beware out here starting the ninth, he's probably not looking for a quick race!
Drive safe.
"Unmarked Merc could be a state trooper after you...
Broward County motorists, beware: Drive aggressively, and that unmarked Mercury Marauder in your rear-view mirror might pull you over.
The Florida Highway Patrol said Monday it is deploying three unmarked Marauders in Broward County on Jan. 9.
The vehicles will be equipped with radar, computers, radios and video cameras, and the troopers driving the cars will be looking for aggressive drivers.
The agency said it deployed the vehicles because it has noticed an increase in aggressive driving over the past few years.
Aggressive driving habits include speeding, tailgating, driving or passing on a road's shoulder, and unsafe lane changes."

If states start buying the Marauder for their patrol cars, which they should, ( handeling and power) then the future will look very bright for more production mods and years.

It's a matter of time, CVPI are just too slow! With light bars on top, it makes the matter worse. Just think a basic panther weights over 4k plus extra 500 lbs of police equipment it's really slows it up! That is why lot of the depts utilize Cameros, Mustangs against aggressive drivers. But I can't see them driving them in the Winter, so they'll stay with Tahoes or CVPIs.

Yeah, SC Highway patrol use Cameros, and there's even a BMW M5 floating around here somewhere.
It just confirms some of the other posts that have been up and about recently. I can't trust anything anymore, some of my friends thing I'm just wimping out when I come up on an unmarked Impala or Crown Vic and slow way down..." 'It's just a soccer mom James'...'It's nothing, look, a regular license plate!'..."What are you doing? That's not a cop!' ". Guess who doesn't get tickets: )!
Here's the SC DOT website listing some of the vehicles (with pictures) of what the state cops use...

Don't worry about that plane unless it's big holiday traffic though...A county deputy told me they shut that down about 2 years ago because it costs so much. (Several thousand per run)
For those of you that don't live around here, this is a posting with links to all 50 state Highway Patrol websites.

woaface - Great sites. Thanks:up: NY State Police use cameros and the NYPD has a 500 HP confiscated mustang.
And as I'm confident has been mentioned here before, the Doraville (GA, in the Atlanta area) Police are now running Marauders; they're replacing their fleet of now aging Impala SS's... Would that be SSi? SSus?
Anyhow; saw one the other day parked over at PDK. I asked him if it squeaked, and he looked at me kinda funny. So instead I said "Have a nice day, Officer." He liked that better.

Jim's car has squeaks and he is not very pleased about it so he asked the officer if his MM squeaked too.

okay....thanks for the explanation.:)
BTW, not to change the subject here, but I've found the location of a squeak on my MM when I slammed the door one day. It's the hood. It even squeaks when I shut the door hard. It isn't adjusted properly, which is probably why it dances all over the place while I'm on the highway. There are threaded bumper type adjusters on each side of the hood that you have to turn in order to adjust their height. I haven't messed around w/them yet. I think I might try to get some modeling clay to slap either right beside them or on top of them to determine exactly at what height they need to be for the hood to begin making contact w/them because that should be the correct height.

I had this problem too, and the dealer fixed it. It was the bumpers, which appear to work loose over time, even with the lock nut. Once you adjust them, apply a layer of white grease to the surface. This will fix it -- it did for me.
Indeed my Marauder squeaks, and apparently the hood is the culprit.
Well, as of this afternoon, that squeak (and all the rest of 'em) are the baliwick of someone yet to be named, and I'm enjoying my as-yet-noise-free 2004 F150. What a great bit of work this truck is. Well done, Ford!
Fear not, Marauder comrades; I'll continue to lurk here as I've done since this site came into being... Heck, I am member 26!
Good times.

Donny. I thought it was the hood on my car, but perhaps I'm mistaking about that. I'll have to check that out.:)

I know that WA State patrol has at least one black one. They had an unconfirmed number of 5 Impala SS's of the black persuasion as well.

So now if states are going to use Mercury Marauders for police cars, does this mean Mercury and Ford will keep the productions going for an '05 production year? Or will they still stop production like everyone was saying?
My buddy who is a cop just spotted an undercover Marauder on Interstate 294 making a traffic stop. He told me the car has regular plates, tinted windows and strobes behind the grill.
Look out!

"The agency said it deployed the vehicles because it has noticed an increase in aggressive driving over the past few years."
The increase in aggresssive driving might be attributed to those bags who go park themselves in the high speed lanes doing 20mph under the speed limit. However, I think it's cool that we are seeing Marauder's seeing patrol duty as this engine is something that should be offered as an option for the Interceptor's.
What color are these unmarked Marauders running around in Florida?
Jim, you got rid of your Marauder for a F150? I guess I can't blame you as the new F150 is IMHO, the king of all trucks as Ford took the best feature available for trucks, and crammed them into the F150. I hope you got the new 3 valve 5.4 v8, right?

When I bought my MM, the whole process actually started when I went and test drove an '04 F-150 and was VERY seriously considering buying it. Hands-down, without a doubt, positively, without question the SWEETEST truck on the planet. Congrats, if it were not for the fact that the MM stole my heart first, I'd be in one right now.

Yes it does marty It just isn't fair. Where is PETA when you need them?
Maybe it just belongs to an employee? how many people see Mac's MM in the lot and think Chicago PD now has one?

Spoke with an FHP officer, and he said they have four of them, the 2 black ones in the Pic, the silver one, which I saw a couple weeks ago, and maybe a blue, or a third black one. That he could not answer... but what's the info on that red Mustang??

They, just like the Virginia State Police, have a large fleet of "stealth" cars. Mustangs, Excursions, Expeditions, Camaros, etc..... the Marauder got coverage here because this is a Marauder site. :)
The stealthiest in the VSP fleet now, believe it or not, is their unmarked Impalas. You can roll up on these things and not know it is a trooper until you've already passed them at 95 mph. :)
I talked to a local trooper friend of mine recently who drives an unmarked Impala. He said it's like shooting fish in a barrel.
I guess people will really be slowing down now when they see a Marauder not knowing if it's the fuzz or not...
