attached photo question

Dont know if anyone can help explain this but up to now if I was to attach a photo to a post it would always appear as a jpg that required somebody to "click" on it to see it full size. This meant I never saw that
"photo in excess of 100 kb" maximum for the site when I attached a photo to a post. Now when I try to attach a pic I always get that error message. Is there some way I can go back to the way it was before?
