Guys (gals) this is the problem,
I bought 4 snow tires for the Flex off of ebay today and paid right away.
The shipping amount listed by the seller was $99.00.
40 mins. after I had paid in full the seller sends me an email saying that the shipping was going to be $168.88 not the $99.00 listed in the auction (he says that ebay neglected to include handling charges in the shipping amount) and he expects me to pay the difference before he ships the tires.
I was the only bidder and I think that he wants me to ask for a refund because they sold for lower than he thought they would.:mad2:
What would you do?

Ask for a refund and buy some tires from Tirerack.com.

Tell E-bay, pay the auction price, get the tires. Let E-bay handle their problem, it is not your problem, that is why E-bay has buyer protection policies. I sold on E-bay for 10 years, you don't have to pay the extra amount.

Ask for a refund and buy some tires from Tirerack.com.

Good advice except the tires are over $1000.00 at tire rack,
I paid $400.00 on ebay with 100 miles on them.

That's interesting. Any idea why they were removed from the car? I agree with what was posted previously contact ebay and let them worry about it. You won the auction and paid what was stated was needed for shipping, someones going to take a hit and it's not going to be you.

I would get your money back. And never buy used *anything* off of ebay. People lie. People lie a lot on ebay.

Get the money back and run. What's to say he won't put an ice pick in those tires if he's forced to send them as is.

People lie. People lie a lot on ebay.
Well, that potato chip did look like Jesus... :)

Thanks guys (gals),
money refunded.
He has relisted the tires.
I was the only bidder when he was asking $99.00 shipping,
It'll be interesting to see how many bids he gets with the $173.99 shipping he's asking now.:P

$1000 for 4 snow tires from Tire Rack...

WTF are you buying???!!!

I put 4 tires AND wheels on the Aviator for less than that.

WRX snows, wheels, mounted and balanced to my door = $723
Outback snows, wheels, mounted and balanced to my door = $778

There is no need to go highest end on snow tires unless one, you are using them year round, and two, if you rally race in the snow.

Read closer Barry,
1st - you'll find that it was an ebay sale with shipping of $99.00.
2nd - I don't think subarus use 20" tires and wheels.

Whatever tires you buy, check the manuf. dates on them. Don't buy tires more than 4 years old.
