Are they back to running the quarter mile or is it still the bogus 1000 meter or whatever it was?

Yeah, she's a looker for sure, but still love watching the old man, he's a hoot.

Nope, still running 1,000 ft.

Still running 1000 ft even though some of the tracks have plenty of space for stopping. Another thing thats pissing everyone off is a new fine for "oiling down" the track. If they blow up they get fined championship points. WTF is that!? These guys tunes are for maximum power, its like they are trying to prevent them from going all out! WTF!!!!!??

Yeah, dumb azz rule. :shake:
This rule is aimed at making TV coverage go live guys! Plus if the track is messed up all weekend it throws everyone off. They have tried for years to correct the oil downs and it looks like the only way is to hurt the wallet! Nothing worse than sitting around for an hour or more as they clean up the track. Many of the oil downs could be avoided with more care. You see it at test n tune track days.

+1
The teams may whine about the fines / -points, but without TV ( ESPN ) coverage they'd REALLY WHINE. Without exposure how much $$$$$ do you think corporate America would shell-out ?
Just look at the Ford hype John Force made about his team's F/C win and the connection with/to the Wood's brothers' victory and the 1-2-3 sweep at Daytona. *Go John go!!!!! :D
IMO the resulting containment measures have been / are a HUGE +(plus) for the sport.

For teams that take the time, oil downs are not a problem.
Team Force had only one oil down all last season.

This is what the NHRA wants! I also think the fans think the same way.:)
