Well there are a few articles on-line showing they might play a few shows. My Best Friends Girl being one of my favorite 80s songs of all time... I'll have to see them. Punk Rock in sheep's clothing, slowed down to New Wave.

See ya there.

Maybe they can tour with Cheap Trick!!!

Ugh. Benjamin Orr was the best part about the Cars and he's dead. Ric Ocasek blows, so I will pass on this reunion, unless Cheap Trick opens for them.

Side note, my favorite Cheap Trick 'album' (besides At Budokan) is a bootleg called In Color: The Unreleased Steve Albini Sessions (http://forestroxx.blogspot.com/2009/01/cheap-trick-in-color-as-recorded-by.html) (follow link to download, click "hear", open using WinRar). The band was raw as hell, loud, raucous.

Case in point:
Hello There (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4D21mxgGRhY) (orig.)
Hello There (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvmkrazCm_s) (Steve Albini's version)

I just got that album last week on vinyl. I like Steve's version more, but I HATE STEREO. Thanks for the songs, as always.

When I think of The Cars songs, her pool scene is what comes to mind.

FWIW,, that link was from July 2010. One might assume that the reunion tour ain't gonna happen since there has been no buzz since that time

I saw The Cars live at Boston Garden back in the 70's! Great show!

Had tickets to see them in 1980 in Mobile, Alabama but they cancelled (dammit). One of my favorite bands, their first two albums were the best one-two punch of the era. I think there was some record set for how many hit songs came off just two records. Im in the minority but I liked the Ocasek songs better (like "Dangerous Type"). I also liked how their Easton guitar solos were short and kinda fit into the song instead of being some long drawn out thing. I doubt they regroup but if they did I'd be up for a ticket.

Hey now. My Best Friends Girl wasn't sung by the bass player and that guy is still alive. My favorite song. I don't know much about the band, but I see your point. I'd give it a try though. Worst case is I wasted a few bucks and two hours of my time... but with the main singer gone and it's just another reminder, I'm too late.

Someone already beat us to the punch for this argument (http://www.ilxor.com/ILX/ThreadSelectedControllerServle t?boardid=41&threadid=17710). The only Ocasek-sung song I can think of that I like is "You're All I've Got Tonight."

I'm pretty sure that most of my hatred comes from "Good Times Roll" for the stupidest lyrics ever...that, and the fact that "Dangerous Type" sounds too much like the Talking Heads' "Psycho Killer".

If I knew more about the Cars I would understand. I do get however what a lineup change and time does to a band. Green Day being the best example. Then Sugar Ray and The Ramones.... I get the idea.

I didn't know Ben Orr was dead...that's a shame. I could never tell which songs he sang and which ones Ric Ocasek did, but I liked them all. The Cars were part of the soundtrack of my youth.

I really like the Cars, but my wife who's decade is the 80's doesn't. So I can only play their music when she's not home.

We have more than that. I probably share more music interests with you than anyone else on the board. Don't forget Ricky Nelson. Also we drive the same car. So there! :P
