The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) was
established as a separate administration within the U.S. Department
of Transportation on January 1, 2000, pursuant to the Motor Carrier
Safety Improvement Act of 1999.
Our primary mission is to reduce
crashes, injuries, and fatalities involving large trucks and buses.

FMCSA is headquartered in Washington, DC. We employ more than
1,000 individuals, in all 50 States and the District of Columbia,
dedicated to improving bus and truck safety and saving lives.


Salaries are as follow:
Dover, DE - 87,292.00 - 113,478.00
Glastonbury, CT - 90,180.00 - 117,233.00
Princeton, NJ - 92,259.00 - 119,935.00

This position is located within a Field Division Office of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
You will serve as the State Programs Manager within a Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Field Division Office, with responsibility for oversight, promotion, and review of highly technical projects and programs (i.e., Commercial Drivers License Program, Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program, Intelligent Transportation System/Commercial Vehicle Operations (ITS/CVO) Programs) of the agency. Provides expert advisory support and technical guidance to the Division for Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP); Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Program; Performance and Registration Information System Management (PRISM); the New Entrant Program; Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks (CVISN); and other duties as assigned.

Major Duties:





Responsible for oversight, promotion, and review of highly technical projects and programs (i.e., Commercial Drivers License Program, Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program, Intelligent Transportation System/Commercial Vehicle Operations (ITS/CVO) Programs) of the agency.

Provides expert advisory support and technical guidance to the Division for Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP); Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Program; Performance and Registration Information System Management (PRISM); the New Entrant Program; Commercial Vehicle Information Systems and Networks (CVISN); and other duties as assigned.

Prepares the program review reports and monitors all activities related to the CDL program.

Represents the FMSCA in interactions with persons outside the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, such as owners of major motor carriers and their employees, contractors, state and federal agency leaders and their key representatives to include the Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, senior officials of the Highway Patrol, the Director of the state Department of Transportation and key senior officials involved in transportation safety.

Responsible for planning, coordinating and conducting a program review at least once every two-year period, ensuring corrective actions are taken on reported deficiencies.




Qualifications:

To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you meet the experience qualifications for the grade at which you are requesting consideration.


LEVELTo qualify, your experience should include one year of specialized experience equal or equivalent to the following:

GRADE 13
Experience applying and analyzing regulations, precedent decisions, interpretations and issues related to motor carrier safety and the Federal compliance enforcement program.
Experience planning, managing and evaluating motor carrier safety programs.
