That's a sweet mustang. My favorite mustang is still a '68 fastback with a 390.

as much as i agree with the import statement Ford has been known to do this. Fusion sport, Mustang California Special, Mustang Bullit (10hp isn't even worth mentioning), F150 Harley Edition...etc

You do know that the earlier HD's came with detuned Lightning engines, right?

And how much are the stealer dealers charging over factory invoice?

For that small in a difference in a lap time I wouldn't call that a kill. Plus the Boss is brand new, what year BMW were they comparing it to?

They can ask all they want, but many people, myself included, are finding cars at sticker, no mark ups. Takes a bit of searching and calls, but worth it.

That comparison is the current M3. I believe that the Mustang GT is within one tenth of a second of the M3s lap time. Sure, its not much, but when you factor in cost... just how fast do you wanna go? I am comparing a gt not a boss. For the money you would save on the Mustang, you could add all sorts of aftermarket to it that would raise its level of performance that would embarrass even exotic cars.

If you are losing 3 seconds per lap to a competitor in a race, you are getting your butt whupped.
For a 1:40...Lap Time at Lagune Seca, I'd say that the new BOSS 302 is in pretty good company:

wow really? 3 seconds is HUGE. look at the list Joe Walsh just put up. 3 seconds is the difference between 4th and 14th position on that list. i'd say thats substantial.

That's one seriously tough track, too. I was fortunate to have been able to take the MM out on it the week after Ford's 100th in August 2003. Although I've driven that track at speed in other rented race cars, the MM was truly a handful. I'm not certain a non-KB car would've been as controllable.
As I went through Turn 8 (top of the Carousel) I couldn't help remembering the guy who put his Formula Ford into the tree, driver's right,, apex of turn 8, Yes, into the tree (I was working Turn 8 for SCCA at the time). Funny thing is, SCRAMP didn't take the tree out for a few years after that, so it must've been around 1995.
And the weirdest incident I saw at the Carousel was between Indycar practice sessions. Emergency was towing a car back to the Paddock, which they usually did by wrapping a rope around the roll hoop above the driver's head, giving it to him to hold and then towing him to the top of the hill, where he'd let go and coast into the Paddock from around Turn 9 or so (old Laguna Seca - around 1994) through the entrance driver's left at Turn 10.
Well, Indy Car drivers are so important that the driver couldn't wait to come back with his car, so he walked back to the Paddock right after he parked it on course. That means a crew member had to come out, sit with/in the car, wait for the end of the session for Emergency to bring out the tow and then get the car back home.
Evidently nobody warned this crew member about the Carousel. The tow went through followed by the car abut 150' back connected by the rope. The crew member couldn't turn hard enough (it is, after all, a 90 degree corner that you have to set up for way over on driver's right at the entrance), so as soon as the Indy car entered the turn at the Apex, the tow was already exiting Turn 8 and into 8A at the bottom of the hill (90 degrees the other way, if you're following along on your Laguna maps). What happened? The tow pulled the car right over, onto the crew member's head. Upside down, and dragged him a few feet (with no helmet), although he might've slid, since that is seriously downhill right there. What an embarrassment, an a truly awful avoidable injury.
Shortly after that, helmets became required for tows, no matter who sat in the driver's chair. And I think that car failed Tech that weekend.
I can't recall whose car it was, but it'll play in my mental YouTube for the rest of my life. The car in the tree may actually be out there somewhere.

Mark-up here in Virginia (at one dealer) for the Bos 302 Laguna Seka is $51K on top of the $48.5K MSRP. Total $99.5K plus taxes, tags, prep, etc. NFW .... ;)
