I've been thinking about one of these. The last time gas prices went knuts I bought a Cheby Aveo. Not bad, but the boozegas we are forced to use here causes a constant CEL that Cheby can't fix. It has never gotten the mileage its supposed to. Wonder what its worth??? Not much, $6600 and I own it outright. Guess it goes back to Cheby service, again....

Also have a 02 Lincoln LS8. Sweet car, but not too good on MPG and needs 93. Post major back surgery I'm restricted to driving it only as the Orb is a MTX and I'm not cleared to drive that yet.

This is the Aveo and LS8 this past Monday

Aside from the cars in my signature block, I have a 1988 Chevy Cheyenne extended cab Lowes Runner / Trash Hauler, 1984 Trans Am and a 1966 project Mustang in the garage. And this weeks' gas mileage purchace was a 2011 Tucson. It's the only vehicle I can put less that 93 octane and gets 31+ mpg. Went to the Ford dealer and the Chevy Dealer to try and buy American but with the features I needed the closest vehicle was a Chevy Equino$ that was 6K higher in price and got mid 20s mph. The 4 cyl chevy made me want to get out and push. I guess thats how it got rated at 28mpg. Otherwise is was a great vehicle. We loved everything else about it.

Note to self: Don't drive the Tucson home to Diane's family reuion in Detriot. Pick one of the other 6 made in the USA.

Wow! I guess it is a very big deal! We've sold a few of those at the dealership, I think they're pretty cool.

2007 Mustang GT 21,xxx miles with a few mods still gets 30mpg Highway, average is 22mpg combined

1993 Mercury Tracer LTS 203,xxx miles original, soon to be retired hopefully for 2012 Focus maybe with the Ecoboost more likely with the little rinky dink motor that got rated at 40mpg Hwy. :D

The Scout has the AMC 232 inline 6. You don't want photos at this stage of its rebuild. This thing has no business being restored but here I am going for it.

And I can't believe someone else here has a Centurion, those are getting very hard to find. I'm also jealous of the 460, mines a 1/2 ton.

My old '79 scout II had the 345 w/ thermoquad, backed by the 727 auto. Could surprise a whole lot of guys with the way it'd come off the line. Shoulda never sold it. My 200 pickup has the 392 w/ the thermo, also with the 727 auto. Truck pulls just as well as my F350 diesel, doesn't squat near as much, and the auto hubs still work, unlike the ford...
Wife's wanted one of the 800's for a while-would love to find one with either the 266 or 304. Imagine the 232 moves her out pretty well though-those old amc sixes were always torquey. If you could find one of the late travelalls that used the amc 401, it'd have the right bellhousing and would probably drop right into the scout-that'd be a runner!
