When I get back from deployment I want to start looking for a 2 door something-or-other to put along side the MM. I want to eventually start doing some fun stuff with the MM and I can't really do that without having a car to use while I've got the MM torn apart.

The MM is actually only car I've owned that wasn't a coupe, so I've been kind of itching to get another one.

Like the MM, I tend to gravitate toward cars that aren't as common. For example, I've been eye-balling the 05-06 GTO. The LS2 stuffed in a little inconspicuous coupe is appealing to me.

I'm definitely open to ideas though. Whatcha got? What 2 door would you get?

Mach1 mustang. Same drivetrain as the MM, ~1k lbs lighter, and you might be able to reuse some parts... or you get to buy everything twice. :D

That's what I have, both black too. I also have a Lincoln Mark VIII for winter beater duties. Can't have enough 4V's.

Haha, same here (on the black mach). Have a v10 excursion for the winters though... Wish they had 4v heads available for that thing... :(

I'm not really into Mustangs because they are so common, but I suppose a limited edition type one wouldn't be so bad. I'll have to look into this.

The new Boss 302 is looking pretty sweet.

With gas prices the way they are, I'd just get some FWD crapbox that get's good mileage and put the money saved on gas toward the Marauder.

1+^^gonna find me a cheap Taurus to leave at the train station nightly (never know in IT). But what is your requirement? Sporty, two door domestic only or open to import V6-V8 exclusive? too many variables. Going off of the assumption of sporty 2+2 V8 coupe their is only a handful that meet that criteria and the Mustang was one of them; Camaro/Firebird TA LSx 1998-2002; GTO 2004-2006; BMW 330-M series, Merc Benz C-class coupe....Nissan/Infinity?

I prefer Detroit muscle and a V8. No convertibles.

I know the options are limited, but I really don't know much about what's out there so I figured I'd get some input.

+1 03-04 Cobra/Mach1 or later GTO with the 400hp LS2. An 01-04 Z06 not a bad suggestion either.
How 'bout a little old school...'87 Grand National? They're still out there.

I wouldn't use a grand national for a daily driver while his marauder is down.

Another suggestion would be a Lightning. Good parts hauler for the marauder, fun to drive, and still 2 doors ;)

2003-2004 Roush Cobra, the convertibles are extremely rare.

My friends before he sold it.

Alright, I gave in and test drove a non-American 4 banger, just to see how it was. I'm seriously thinking about it now. I can justify it because I'm definitely keeping the MM and building her up, so I'll still have my big American V8. However, the appeal of a small, sporty car that is good on gas is definitely growing on me.

So, what did I drive? A 2011 Mini Cooper S. Even at 6'4", I didn't even have to put the seat all the way back, which was definitely surprising.

The cool thing about them is that you can build your own on the Mini website, then the dealership will order it for you. There are so many little options that it makes it really hard to get any two to be identical, which is something I look for in a car.

Here's the one I built, what do you think? Yay or gay?

I think it's a mini, sorry Juice but I can't get behind this one. I think its okay to go for a foreign mileage getter, but I just kind of always viewed these cars as girls cars.

A guy that works for me though, bought one and he absolutely loves it. Ofcourse it has his brain thinking the car can do more than it actually can. He tried to tell me he a ran one fo the newer GTO's last week, but I'm calling BS on that.

At the end of the day though, it matters not waht any of us think. You have to drive it, so if you love it, then god speed.

I know that there is a pretty strong mini following and group, so there may be more meets in your future

I don't disagree, it's hard for me to grasp as well. Hell, my girlfriend has one and she's the one who suggested it, so I see the whole chick car thing.

Stock they wouldn't run a GTO, after driving it I'm pretty sure even the stock MM would walk it. The thing turns on a damn dime though, it's pretty fun to drive.

Who knows, I may get something totally different, I just like to keep my options open.

They do handle very well. It would do great on a drive up the coast on highway one, you could have a lot of fun there. Good luck with your search
