Very good looking truck. I used to have a '79 F150, a lot of the drivetrain was the same as the F250. Bulletproof transmission and transfer case, and the F250 differentials are tough. Switch to a V8... I had a 351W for awhile then switched to a 460. It would be a perfect platform for a modern 6.8 V10 or a 5.4.

It's even the right color. I miss my '79's.
Looks like a fine project. Keep the 300 6 in it too and add a cool ceramic coated header to it with it all restored under there.
I may be interested in the restoration when you're done.

Sweet '79 F250.
I have a '74 F100 Ranger XLT back in New England waiting for me to get back to it.

I might have another 100 MPH speedo cluster for the 79's on my shelf too.. I know those are desirable upgrade. I will check tonight. I also have a complete door gasket set, ranger plaques and other nick-nacks for a restoration on the shelf.

LOL! Sure. I will go through my inventory for 79's, see what I have and make you a list. I'm sure I even have chrome moldings for the front bumpers too. In fact, I have a good used drivers side step-side fender with the gas neck and MINT NOS step-side fender steps (between the fenders and the cab). I figured I might end up restoring another step-side some day.
Did I ever show you the pics from the frame-off I did on that one?

and more pics as I put the motor back together after a valve guide seized a valve and caused a hassle. Motor was a 351M, zero decked with australian cleveland boss heads (small intake ports). Machine shop repaired the head for me. I still have the racing converter I put in the C6 on the shelf too.
