Looking into getting this to keep around for small jobs.
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Campbell-Hausfeld-3-Gallon-Compressor/12534870
Price is good, reviews aren't all that great, but should suffice for what I would be using this for.
Anybody out there have/had one?
Thanks,
Mike.

I bought a 2 gallon unit from Lowes or Home Depot a couple years back to do some pneumatic nailing, and it does a good job for it's size.
Keep in mind that tank volume determines performance with one of these smaller compressors. It takes a while to build up pressure, and with a small tank size you can exhaust it pretty quickly.
If you're looking for something that will power a nail gun, or let you pump up your tires, this size will work fine. If you plan on using it to provide compressed air for blowing off a work area (work bench, etc), you'll be disappointed as you'll spend more time waiting to build up pressure than you'll spend blowing stuff off (e.g. two minutes building pressure for about 10 seconds of compressed air).
Other than that, Campbell-Hausfield's a name brand.

I got a 30 gal 5hp 110v used/good condition off Craigslist for $80. I beat the snot outa it last summer with porting my heads and engine removal/build/install. Still runs great!
You can find great deals on airtools on graigslist too. There's always someone moving, shop going out of business, etc.

30 gal is a nice size, and $80 is a great price.

Rex,
Right now, my DTR has been sitting for almost 3 months and both front and rear driver's side tires are damn near flat.
These have always had a slow leak since mounted. (Hopefully this won't happen with the Nittos I bought).
Also, I work on computers on the side, and that is taking off pretty good, and would use this to blow out PC's instead of using canned air.
Those are the main uses I see at this time.

Mike, that'll work okay for that. If your tires are real low, be prepared for a little wait time for the pressure to re-build, but really, that's no big deal. A small one (2 - 3 gal size) is handy for the occasional stuff that requires compressed air.
Price for the C-H model you're looking at isn't bad, but FWIW, you may want to check the big box stores and maybe Northern Tool to see what they have on sale. When I got mine, it included a small Bostich nail gun, and sale price was around $65-$75 for the whole deal.

We just had a Harbor Freight store move in the town over. I don't know how I made it out of there without spending a dime! Welding tools, air compressor tools, powder coating tools, tools, oh yeah TOOLS!!! All 33% off! :( It was hard... :depress:

Harbor Freight, I know what you mean. My wife refuses to let me go in there unaccompanied... ;)

My 1 gallon spit the bit earlier this winter. Thats not a bad deal. May jump on it. It would be perfect for what I use them for.

OK,
Shopped online at Harbor Freight and nothing really portable/lightweight enough for my needs.
Sooo,... I picked up the one at Walmart and brought it back to the office.
Went thru the attachmnets and assembled the quick connectors to them.
BTW, even came with a roll of teflon tape.
Went out in the shop and fired it up.
Yes. It is loud, and took about 7 minutes to fill a completely empty tank to about 110 lbs. of air.
One gauge for tank pressure and the other gauge for regulating the line pressure.
We'll see how it does airing up a tire this weekend.
;)

I've been using my CH for 12 years professionally. I replace the pisser valve on the bottom of the tank occasionally as they get beat up. If your not using it for a while piss out the air as compressed air is full of water and it will rust the inside of the tank. Also when you piss the air out do it in an area you don't care about because you will get watery air coming out and it stains.

Hey Mike! Just remeber to NEVER leave one of those on all the time. You CAN start a fire if something goes wrong...

Yeppers!
Ran it up to 110 lbs and shut it off.
Sitting in the trunk of the Fusion right now against my toolbox.
Bungee cord FTW!
When I head out to the G/F's this weekend, I'll have tools, air and a new catch can that was delivered this morning.
Hmmm...
:D

Just make sure you put the water separator on the air compressor and not on the Marauder
I need to PM you some info too.
