Last week we lost a 3 year veteran of local Police Department (SAPD) to a drunk driving accident.
Officer Brown was working a shift for another SAPD officer when she got a call to a possible officer in trouble. She was responding to this call driving on the upper level of I-35. A drunk driver was heading in the wrong direction with out headlights and hit her patrol car head on. The drunk driver was killed instantly and Officer Brown was rushed to a local hospital and pronounced at the hospital when they arrived by ambulance.
Officer Brown leaves behind (varring reports 7 months to 1 year) a little girl.
Officer Brown's funeral is today and for those interested is streaming live here:

That's horrible.
RIP Officer Brown.
It saddens me and angers me at the same time because I deal with DUI offenders for work and been hit by a drunk driver before.

Wrong-way drunk drivers are turning into a pretty bad problem down here lately. I don't understand why though.

Wellllll... maybe it's because they get so intoxicated that they don't know which way to go!
R.I.P. Officer.
Condolences to her family and loved ones.

I meant that I don't understand why it is all the sudden becoming a frequent problem. Believe you me, people in this town DRINK, and have done so for years and years, but I don't remember wrong-way driving being this frequent of an issue.

Yes it has and it's a shame, Chicago has been hit pretty good too. I hate hearing stuff like this especially when children are left without a mother or father. May this Officer rest in peace!

R.I.P. Officer Brown. Wisconsin had an officer killed the other day also.
Common problem in Chicago. Hear the calls all the time for the wrong way driver on the Dan Ryan.

So many Hero's to honor, those of us who are left behind are sadden by her lost and the
lost that the child must endear as does the rest of her family.
All of us who are here to protect and serve, must move forward. She did her duty and
paid dearly for it. We all suffer togather as one. So shall we stand as one for her and all those that have fallen before her and sadly those that will follow her.
We pray that God will receive her with open arms and protect those that remain.

God bless Her, the United States of America, and those that guard us with there lives.
