What's this '65 Mustang worth?

Hey guys,
Many years ago I was into early model Mustangs, but have lost track of what they are selling for and what they are worth.
A friend of mine is going to sell his Mustang and I'm wondering what a fair price might be...?
It is a 1965 Mustang Coupe with a nice running 302V8 4 barrel/4 speed combo and an all new dual exhaust.
It has an all new 'parchment' interior, carpeting, and all new exterior chrome.
Wheels are from a '68 Mustang.
Most of the new pieces are still in boxes.
No rust in the trunk or in the floorboards.
It will need a nice paint job and then everything has to be re-assembled.

There is a show on cable TV called What's My Car Worth. I watched it the other day and the co-hosts who appraise the cars say muscle cars are declining in value. They also said a car actually driven is worth more than one that sits believe it or not. But some guy bought a 429 Cobra 4 on the floor that was sitting in a barn that had been under a tarp cover 25 years in California. The car had parts missing from the engine, the paint was a mess, and yet he paid the car owner .............................. . $ 100,000 for it and isn't sure if he wants to keep it as is or restore it. I guess its beauty is in the eye of the beholder. One good thing about your Mustang is I read an article in the Philadelphia Inquirer news paper a few months ago about people who want to restore old cars and it was said Mustangs are the easiest cars to get parts and is one of the less expensive cars to restore so that's good to know. Hard to say Joe. Around here they hover in the $8-$18 range built, running, and needing very little if anything. I think he will end up taking a huge hit selling as is? Ofcourse, if he finished it, he could take a hit as well. One of those "too many to go around" cars.

In it's current condition, without knowing the codes on the door tag and not having the original engine, I would say no more than $4500 and that, to me, is being generous.

What engine was in there orignally? C, A, or K code V8? Looks like it has power steering but no power brakes. Drum brakes all around? Rally or standard cluster? What year 302? 1968 302s had crank problems.

Id guess around $4-5k as it presently sits. You can get a nice one pretty cheap here in Texas.

I was thinking 3,500-4,000... Different strokes for different folks in different areas.

I sold one just like it but an auto. Similar condition but all finished, lots of new parts, styled steel wheels, 289, etc... $6100

So Im thinking $3k would be where you want to be. If it were a fastback, whole different story. The coupes dont bring much unless its a "k" code or rare in some way.

Probably around 3 grand. Unfortunately coupes are a dime a dozen. The four speed helps and the center console is worth money. If it were a fastback and in pieces it would be worth considerably more.
