View Full Version : Extra Spare Tire Parts When Equipped With The Mini Spare Tire?

Does the factory mini spare tire mount in the trunk face up or face down? For face up I mean the valve stem on top facing the trunk lid.

IIRC, valve stem up, as the jack kit is stowed under the spare, and you'll need clearance for it.

If I try to mount the mini spare face up the J hook is way too short but if I try to mount the spare face down the j hook is not threaded enough for the tire to be held firmly.

Does this look like the correct J hook? See attached pic.

Same J hook I have, and as far as I can remember, the dish is upright, meaning you screw onto the Jhook while inside the wheel..(the flatter part of the wheel is facing down.)

Yup thats what I'm doing but its like they didn't thread the j hook all the way down towards the hook end so the hold down nut runs out of threads before it can snug up against the large washer.

Thanks everyone. Looks like I need a new j hook or need to have this one threaded all the way down to the base of the hook.

Yeah facing down....from factory like that.
