Many of you already know Paul (Blackened300A). I didn't. In fact, I still kinda don't, having only met him once for about 10mins at Englishtown last year. But please allow me to explain how this dude, who probably couldn't pick me out of a police line-up, just went way above and beyond to help me and literally save me thousands of dollars......

Long story, short: I had engine trouble. Ran it low on oil, a new engine was needed...crap! I was doing a lot of research trying to see my options. There were several paths and most were very expensive. I had a few quotes in hand and things were looking grim.

I threw out a general "help!" on the site beginning of March. Paul quickly offered help in the form of a great deal on a motor he had. While I chickened-out and declined his offer, I soon found myself sending the man PM's with questions....lots of questions. All questions answered quickly, usually with ideas or advice included, backed-up by his experiences or things he's heard through the site. Next thing I know, I'm getting PM's from him at all hours of the night (and overnight!! I see the time-stamps: 2AM hour, 3AM hour, etc...). He was digging through the internet sending me links to motors he was finding. He even had the nerve to apologize for sending me so may PM's!!

So I go with 1 of the motors he tracked down. Reman MM engine, awesome price. He asks if I have a shop lined-up for install. I don't. My regular mechanic won't have time and others are giving me 1-2 month turnarounds. He contacts his guys (GNB Auto Repair in Astoria, NY) and gets me an install quote. It's $1k cheaper than the cheapest quote I had, quick turnaround. Now, I don't know Paul but I found myself having 100% faith in his suggestions and his guys. I go for it. Paul helps communicate and coordinate engine arrival and my MM arrival. He's down at the shop watching over the work and even starts sending me text pics of the progress!! This was all amazing since I live in Central NJ and there was no way I would be able to monitor, no less see, what was going on.

I got my car back today; 9 days after I gave it up. Result: Amazing! Runs strong and smooth. No drips, no smoke, nothing. I could have gotten it after 6 days but I couldn't get out to NY to get it. No problem, the guys at GNB Auto kept it locked-up inside overnight for me each night! No joke, my car was cleaner (inside, outside and under-hood) when I got it back than it was when I dropped it off. They had it washed! This wasn't a dealership. I highly recommend their services to anyone on the NY/NJ/CT area. It's worth the trip, trust me. :D

My nightmare experience of having to replace an engine in my car went far better that I could've ever imagined, economically and logistically.

Paul, my wife and I thank you for all that you've done to help us and make this whole experience as painless as possible. Now that I again have an operational Marauder to drive out to Hershey in October, I will certainly be there. Suffice is to say, I'd like to buy you a beer.

Paul and I have been good friends since 1993 and he's always been like that! He is no doubt an excellent example of human kindness and generosity! Chris at GNB is awesome, he does all of our deep engine work.

I've known Paulie for a few years now and I can say unequivocally that he.... lives in Queens:lol:.
He is a great resource when it comes to the MM or cars in general and we are lucky to have him as a MM.net member. He is a take charge kind of guy and has for many years been the organizer if the Carlisle event for our little car club and this year he has also taken on planning duties for MV9.
I believe his input/ involvement would be sorely missed on this site if he ever finds a car that launches spark plugs into space better than his MM does now.:P

Kudos to you Paulie for being a stand up guy....now sit down:D

You're very welcome Doug. Glad it all worked out for you without breaking the bank! The night I was sending you all the engine options, I had a 2am start working at the WTC and had to kill a few hours. ;)
Now you have to make it out to more of our NE meets!

Great job Paul! Sounds like a really good shop to go and have work done.
Post up the address.

Congrats on a job well done and great results.

Yessir! I will remove cars from my interests and take-up collecting bottle caps as a hobby if I make that mistake again.

I'll keep checkin' the Northeast forums for upcoming events. That Carlisle run sounds awesome but it occurs on my wife's birthday. She's great and understanding....but not a car-chick. Ya' dig??

Chris and Joe were really good guys. They know cars and they know OUR cars. While I don't know Paul all that well, I have seen his car and I know he's very serious about it. He trusts these guys with his car...that was good enough for me. When I went to pick-up my MM, I spoke with them for about 20mins. By the end of our chat, they were helping me troubleshoot issues I'm having with my Oldsmobile!! Car guys. They can be found at:
GNB Auto Repair

It's extremely close to LaGuardia Airport.

I said this in a post about another member, but we are indeed fortunate to have members like Paul who give back to the community and make this such a great site.

Paul, you're probably tired of hearing this, but you ARE the "King" of Queens.
