Hey -

Are there any threads where cutoff switches and other methods are shown?

Is it worth turning off the fuel pump in the trunk and locking the trunk from within the car?

Thanks,

Mark

Kill switch for the fuel pump and a 12 gage under the bed. Works for me.

Are things that bad in N.J.?

You could always remove the circuit breaker for the fuel pump.

Look into Ravelco. Its an 16 pin socket that connects toyour starter, fuel pump, and ignition switch. The plug remains on your key ring or on your person. It is claimed as impossible to steal a car with this installed unless it is towed.

I thought the fuel pump switch in the trunk was a "reset" switch. I don't think there is a way to turn it off. (???)

But I like the idea of it.

Therefor get a wheel boot and a tracking device with a 2 way alarm pager. Best way to go

Tracking devices are not anti-theft devices, they are recovery devices. It only takes about 20mins to drive away and strip a car bare. How long will it be b4 you even notice your car is gone in most cases. 2 way alarms (which I have) prove useful if you plan to ALWAYS be within range of your vehicle, which in my case, cancels out pretty much anyplace but home and gas stations. Boots are good, but c'mon, r u really gonna attach and unattach a wheel boot every time you leave your car unattended? That would be super inconvenient. Not to mention, anyone who saw that would just immediately attempt to tow your car, especially if your car is known around town.

The best way to steel a car is to tow it. So a boot on the front tire helps that. Also. Tracking devices have text alerts to your phone when the car moves. Also you can program the device to not start the car after it's been turned off. You can't full proof a car but this is the best you can do. And a brake lock can be removed but it helps

+1 on the 2-way alarm system. Unless a thief has a programed key to your car it's not going to be stolen unless it is towed away. Always back into a spot, parking brake on and turn your wheels all the way to one side before turning the car off. Makes it a lot harder for a wrecker to snatch and grab, along with the parking brake engaged they won't get away without making any noise since the rear tires will be locked. If a wrecker grabbed the back tires, all they need to do snatch it, drive down the road some, secure it and off they go.

A quick hard whack will shut it off. When ever I'm going on a trip of any length of time I pop them in all of my vehicles. The OBDII equipped ones will set a code if the ign is on when you do it or turned on before you reset it. But that's simple to clear.

This is the stuff I'm talking about - Anything to give me "Peace" of mind while I'm traveling.

I know that the embedded chip is installed and in force to disable the car if not present but I can imagine that someone has thought of a way to bypass it (other than to tow).

I'm just looking for options to make it harder for the bad guys to take the car.

After all (I have had a car stolen and gave it to the scrap yard), I don't want to get the car back and wonder what was done to her while she was away.
