Hello gents,
about a week ago, I posted that there would be a very special video that I could not post up until after April 14th, 2011.
Well it is now officially April 15th, 2011 at 01:49 ;)
So here is the video I have promised you all....uploaded on youtube for fun viewing.
Let me first say, I have owned the marauder since 2004 when I bought it brand new off the showroom floor in South FL. It has 90,000 miles on it now and no major upgrades. I haven't taken the best care of it, but I haven't really abused it much either...unless you consider this video below true abuse....
This youtube video is PRIVATE - which means enjoy watching it, or showing your friends/family, but let's try not to post it all over the internet.
Also, FULL SCREEN AND JACK THE VOLUME UP!!! MUCH BETTER THAT WAY!
Thanks guys....ENJOY!

Yeah, let me call the entire family in to watch a guy driving around cones with his buddies for 11 minutes.
Glad you're trying not to post it all over the internet by putting the link on a public forum.

lol...some of you guys are harsh!
I've never seen a marauder police driving ops video before...as we are generally not allowed to record during these things. (for obvious reasons)
I figured you guys might enjoy seeing a marauder police car being put through the paces probably for the very first time.
But either way, if you guys weren't so happy to see and hear the fun, well =P to you.
For those of you who enjoyed it, glad I could help haha.

:burnout:Very nice video BIODOLE, I like it much, do other video but chasing bad guys with the Marauder and shooting at them. :banana2: :burnout: :uzi:
The Marauder is a road car, and can be made to perform better with minimum modifications, IE; upgrades in the tune, sway bars, control arms, brakes and maybe 4:10's. I liked it, wish more events featuring this type driving vs drag racing were available.
Calling each other Azzholes was so defectueux.
Correct me if I'm wrong but it looked like both cars had their limited slip clutches worn out, only one tire was smoking.
Regards.

Thanks for posting it, I enjoyed it. It's great you were able to take a private car on the course. We could never do that due to the fear of liability out here.
What happened blackened, you get a ticket you havent gotten over yet? Im sure the video is private due to some of the things being shown straying from the course outline. Biodole is allowing a select few to enjoy it if they want for entertainment.

Nice video, but I'm not so sure what's supposed to be secret about it. You can view just about any style of instructional video on youtube including driving vids. They didn't really do anything special or out of the ordinary as far as training manuvers.

Thanks for the nice words! Yeah there was a huge liability concern, but with the right pursuasive techniques, we secured the course for a 60 minute window and enjoyed the hell out of it. The marauder performs so much better than the standard p71 or impala.

Using personal cars on a police driving course isn't exactly allowed ;)
Thus why the video is private, and also why I had to wait until a certain date to release it.

Those who are interested in road courses for participation or as spectators should check out SVTOA. They used to hold performance driving clincs weekends all over the country. I attended two of them at Sebring, Fl. on the 24 hours of Sebring track, and can not tell you how much fun full balls out road course running is. The clincs are affordable, great fun and you will get your own instructor in your car who will coach, and push you to explore the limits of your ability and that of your Marauder. There is a class room session both mornings and five or six 25 minute, on track sessions each day. Before noon sessions on Saturday, no passing while learning the track but the rest of the weekend passing is encouraged in designated areas by permission from the "caught driver" (freely given in my experience) and no limit on rate of travel except your common sense. You will be surprised at how capable our cars can be and how much faster you will be after the weekend. Warning, It is very addictive. It will be the most enjoyable two tanks of 93 you will ever have. And it is great fun when the Hot Shot mustang drivers come over to take a look at just WTF that was blowing by them. :D Check it out. Dennis

Thanks for bringing back the memories. Haven't done EVOC in years, well except the real thing. :D But, those days are over, thank the good Lord. How were your tires afterwards? The last two we sent through brought back a Wimpala with all four tires showing the cords.

well, the rears were a brand new set of nitto's which held up surprisingly well! The fronts were the falken stz-01's and they were totally finished by the end of that, had to replace them with a new set of pirelli pzero's.
It's a shame there isn't a road couse for LEOs to use year round down here...granted they probably wouldn't let me use my personal car again - it would still be nice taking a p71 through the paces every so often.
I honestly feel that driving operations are not stressed enough or trained enough in this line of work. It is the single most dangerous (statistically) aspect of the job, and it gets taught for 3 days in academy, and no road quals after being hired. 3 days to last a lifetime just doesn't cut it in my opinion. I think continuing driving ops should be a requirement...if anything it would certainly be fun :burnout:

The crown vic definitely does have a worn out limited slip...not the marauder however. I'm not sure if traction control played into that at all - but I had everything checked after that romp and thankfully only the tires needed some attention...well that and my paint ;-)
I need to start modding soon...but was planning on a total overhaul eventually so I'm procrastinating.

I believe they run similar police department training classes on this course. Toward the end, you'll see some old police cruisers that are used for bumper cars.

I always remembered what a retired SP Major said in a college class one day. "you are no good to anyone if you don't make it to the scene" That stuck with me for 34 years. Going home at the end of your shift is the number 1 priority.

Couldn't agree with that notion more.
We are killed in car wrecks more than any other hazard of the job. Most rooks get in the car and just hold the pedal to the floor until they get to their call, even if it's a signal 7 from natural causes. Gotta control the adrenaline and drive carefully but with a purpose. However I will say, if I hear that alert tone....all bets are off and I do have the tendency to turn into speed racer in half a second flat lol. That's one of the reasons why I suppose advanced vehicle operations are definitely in order for continuing education. :D

Restraint comes with experience. Triple digit chases down country roads, alone, were no fun. You learn its just not worth it unless a serious crime is involved. 1st perp that almost croaked himself with me somewhere behind him was a big lesson.
You are right though, a hot call comes in and the adrenalin starts flowing. Just remind yourself that you do no one any good if you don't get there. It works.

How much air was in your front tires? They looked like they were rolling under really bad. With my MM's autocrossing them I need at LEAST 45 in the fronts to keep them from rolling over. Looks fun, but good training for real world. God bless our officers!

Google SVTOA. I was with Hotrauder at one of the Sebring events, it was unforgettable! I have also run the road track at Gainesville Raceway, they have these events monthly. Check your local track, they may have a road course.
(Dennis, have you heard about the track in Keystone Heights? It's an airport track like Sebring...let's go!)

Hey there....the front tires were at 40 lbs cold, however 45 probably would have been better for this kind of abuse. Right now the new fronts are pirelli pzero nero @ 40 lbs cold. Think I should boost them up to 45? Won't that lead to wear in the middle?
Also thank you for the nice words! :)

When I run Auto-X events, I run around 28-30 psi on all four corners. I get much better grip with my OEM BFG's at those pressures.
I'm planning on going to 255/45-18 on the front and 255/55-18 on the rear.

I actually an using the following:
Fronts: Pirelli PZero Nero 235/50/18
Rears: Nitto 255/55/18 Nitto NT 420s
If I am running around town I use 35 PSI in each (cold)
edit:
I couldn't stand the BFG's. Those things would wear so fast it was stupid. I think I went through 8 sets of tires in 50,000 miles....and I wasn't even doing burnouts or donuts like some people might think.
Since I switched to falken/nitto/pirelli - I have used ONE full set of falkens in the rear from 50,000-80,000 then I slapped on the nittos after that and have 10,000 miles on them with no noticeable signs of wear. In addition, the front falkes I had from 40,000-90,000 were outstanding. I replaced them with Pirelli's to give them a shot, and they are also very good so far (I have no idea bout treadlife yet because I haven't used them for much over 1,000 miles lol)
If I am planning to run a quick road course I'll use 40 PSI in each (cold)

I noticed that the OEM tires are much better with less pressure...not sure why...but the nittos, falcons, and pirellis respond better to higher pressure.
