I finally took the leap and did the basic mods. As of yesterday, my 03 Marauder has Lidio's tune, 4:10 gears, Magnaflow Mufflers, K & N CAI, Powerslot Rotors and Hawk HPS Pads. My axles were pitted so I had to install a new set. The car is much more responsive and "leaps forward" when it shifts. Love it. Even sounds better !

I think about this, but worry about belt squealing, a common problem. My car had it until I installed a Gatorback belt, and I don't want to ruin a good thing! Are the HP gains and expense really worth it?

Well if it's a belt that will take away the squeal 200 bucks for almost 20hp is great. And better mpg

20 hp is a pretty optimistic figure, and not sure how U/D pullies will increase mileage, but they're not a bad mod to complement gears, tune, and CAI. If planning to to S/C in the future, you'll want to hang on to the OEM pullies.

With underdrive pulleys you'd get a 6 - 8 hp increase at most.
IMHO... the Gatorback belt is a must if you running stock pulleys or not.

Someone here hade a dyno sheet showing around 17 hp increase with pulles. Mabye that was at the crank?. And less drag on the motor will free up some gas milage

I'd like to see that sheet, SOTP estimate is a lot closer to FBM's numbers from what I remember on my car. Most noticable difference is that the engine spools up more quickly with the pulleys.
I check mileage religously on my car and I saw no noticable difference before and after installation of the UDPs.
