I think some are just beginning to realize just what a great workhorse the Panther has been and that this is the end of the line for real tough cars.

How hard was it to figure this was going to happen. Who else tried this? Wasn't it the other members of the big three?

An updated drivetrain IMO would breathe a whole lot of new life into the platform... 3.7 DI v6 would have more power and be more efficient than the pi 2v that's in there now... Of course, the 5.0 would be the logical choice, and would make for one badass cop car...

It could also be a genuine direct competitor to the Charger R/T and SRT8 lineup. Now that I'm without my Marauder, I look at all Panthers a little differently. The stance, the presence on the street, it's just unmatchable. a 400HP powertrain would make it THE icon of modern muscle in my opinion.

True, that, Jim.
How did that old Joni Mitchell song go? "Don't it always seem to go, that you don't know what you got 'til it's gone."

I think part of the problem with the crown vic is that fleet sales don't account for enough to make it viable. For it to sell to the public, it would need an updated interior to bring it into the 21st century; The panther really is behind the times when it comes to that... However, I'm willing to bet, the drivetrain out of the mustang, and a few restyling options inside would make it a hit even with the private buyers... The interior in the marauder is nice, and some of the materials are high quality, however, there are some gaps in the marauder/panther interiors where you can fit 2-3 quarters stacked... And the design is just plain old. It needs some freshening up, at least for a civilian model... When it comes to interior panel gaps, I'd say the marauder is even a bit behind my old 04 F150... If they fixed the interior, and use an existing mustang drivetrain, it'd be one helluva vehicle for the money.
And for crying out loud they need to stop using the stupid 6x8 speakers :mad2:

Cafe is the real reason to blame. Sales are another. I am sure Ford would continue if there were no conflicts... like the cargo vans.
