LCP vs LC9? wheres the gun guys?

So ive been carrying a Ruger LCP for about 3 months now, not a bad gun I like it, but I did get a change to look over an LC9 the other day, I like that too. LC9 is about a inch longer and inch taller, still very slim, and I can actually get all 4 fingers on the grip (with the mag extension) where as the LCP its only 3 fingers (with the mag extension)

Anyone have one of the LC9s? opinions?

Given the choice between the two I'd carry 9mm over .380, I wouldn't need any other reason to vote for the LC9.

My lady carries a .380 lcp, its ok. Not for me
I carry a Glock 30 with ease.

I bet the guy that's getting shot isn't going to care if you're using a .380 or a 9mm.

I used to carry a snub nosed .38 as a CCW, but I've since let my permit lapse and sold the wheelgun. I've been meaning to get it back again but with working 70 frackin hours a week I don't have time to make it to the class they make you take here. :(

Never shot the LC9, but I hate the LCP. It is one of the most uncomfortable guns I've had the displeasure of shooting. They conceal easily and that's about it. I also don't like having to pay extra for .380 auto PD ammo.

I'm sure the LC9 will have more recoil being a faster round in only a slightly larger weapon, but I'd consider it a fair trade. Regular practice will mitigate this problem some.

Well, you don't see my humor enough! How about this. I can make a .380 pierce Kevlar and some trauma plates (seriously). I can make a .380 exit the back of a phone book with a half dollar size hole. This is all after I've had a hand in changing the ammo. Penetration, expansion, deformation, kinetic energy. It's all physics, chemistry and metallurgy. You'd be suprised at what a measly .25 can do in the right hands! ;)

I agree with RacerX, no need to get wrapped around the axle regardling pistol calibers. A .22 can be as effective as a bazooka. Main thing is are you actually carrying it (or is it at home in a drawer?) I hear all sorts of blowhards bragging about their .44 mags ect... but they usually don't actually have it with them at the time. I prefer small and high quality. I own plenty of guns but I carry a North American Guardian .32 at all times. Very similar to a Seecamp but about half the price.

My bad, typing doesn't exactly pick up on the subtle nuances of language. Or at least I'm too stupid to pick up on it!

You are absolutely right though, a few well placed shots even from a .22 can be more effective than a panicky 'spray and pray' from a .45.

agreed. all things considered, if you put it where you want it, caliber doesnt matter....
although a longer barrel does help the "being able to put it where you want it" part.

Agree with Vortex, doesn't matter what you have if you don't carry it. I have all kinds of choices also, but since surgery I've been restricted to my S&W 432PD.

As for the original question, I have not shot either. I do have a Kahr P9C that was my summer carry. No issues with control. If you can hide the LC9 comfortably, go for it. I can hide anything in the winter, its the summer thats a challenge. I prefer in the pocket holsters. I can hide my G36 with one. IMHO you are asking for a problem if you pocket carry without a holster. Look into Buffalo Bore ammo for smaller calibers, costly, but effective if you don't roll your own.

I am puzzled by this conceal issue, I'm not a big guy, I'm ~6' and 180lbs and I carry a G39 .45 (same size frame as the G26) and a 3" SP101 .357 and I can conceal either one IWB under a t-shirt. While I do agree that the best caliber is the one you will carry, and can actually shoot, I don't see how it would be hard to carry something as small as an LC9. That gun is pocket holster small, so to me the two are a 1" difference in size, why pick .380 when you can have 9mm in basically the same size,unless you just can't manage shooting 9mm. Heck 9mm is even cheaper and gives you more variety...maybe I'm missing something.

As more 9mm pistols come on the market in the 9mm Kurz size, the 380 will fall out of favor. Its just the latest fad. I've really had to fight off the urge to buy a Sig P238. I'd love a mini 1911, but have no real need for it.
