Just wondering if any of our friends here that work at Ford have had any experience with tranny problems on the new F-150? My neighbor is at his wits end with his new truck. When he stops, the revs drop momentarily then spike. Also, with foot off the gas, in gear, the truck is picking up to about 1400 rpm. Its what he likes to call the "Toyota Effect". He won't drive it around downtown because when he slows down then takes his foot off the brake the truck accelerates again on its own (likely up to the 1400 rpm point). I guess it surges like a bugger when slowing down. Like it isn't sure what to do on the downshifts.
Anyone else having these problems? He went for a test ride in another 5.0 off the lot and it did exactly the same thing.
Local Ford dealership's response? We can't find the problem but "we conclude it is a characteristic currently in these trucks - dealership can't fix.
He has two messages in to Ford Corporate in Canada, both of which were promised a return call, neither of which came.
He was also scheduled to have a meeting with the local sales manager as well as the regional service manager - 10am at the dealership. He arrived, but no one else showed up. When he inquired as to why, the sales manager told him he wasn't spending any more time on this problem and he was not going to let him speak to the regional service manager. He did this in a loud, irritated tone in front of waiting customers in the middle of the showroom.
My neighbor flipped. Don't blame him.
This happened at Steele Ford in Halifax, in case anyone is interested.
So.
Poor product and worse customer service. Anyone have any insights, though, as to what is wrong with these new 2011s?
