the new ecoboost F150's are awesome. You can easily smoke the tires on a 2-1 downshift at WOT

I would not have guessed how that turned out. If you are going to name a V-8 after an animal, it should perform like one, yeah?

Had they named it gorilla, I'd agree with you. I think the coyote name is more fitting; seeing as even the truck version, which is tuned for more low end, has a better top end than the ecoboost. The 5.0 is much better at home in the mustang than in a truck; with the boss intake they'll pull to 7500 rpm all day; and at the end of the day, it's power under the curve that matters, not peak power.

Yes, the ecoboost motors are awesome, but call me a skeptic, if I was to buy one of these trucks 10 years from now with 150k miles on em, I wouldn't touch an ecoboost with a 10 ft pole... For the new truck buyers, they're sweet though. My truck sits around all year waiting for winter or the occasional tow. For that, I can live with a 10 yr old truck. :)

Got any charts of a Coyote with a Roots on the top? ;)

Should compare forced to forced, ya know? Just sayin'....

You can get a 1000hp out of a 4 cyl if you have the time and money. A V-6 is just that a V-6 no matter the power, yawn. I'll stick with the V-8, I'm just old school that way.

It's not quite that cut and dry IMO, the I6 in the dodge trucks is just that too, an I6, and quite honestly, if I had a choice of motor in a truck, the cummins would be it. I'd also have a 4bt in a jeep wrangler or ranger or small half ton pickup over a V6 or small v8...

I'm happy my V10 is still able to be a lil' ol v6, at least by 5 ft-lbs of torque :o

I'm holding out for the EcoBoost 5.0

OK....I'm really confused....

Why does the 5.0 V8, with twin independently variable cam timing, have that god awful dip in the torque curve at 3,000 rpm???? :dunno:

That would be one really annoying flat spot right in the middle of the rpm range!

As far as engines to stuff into a Marauder, this is one that I would really like to see. Even better with a Vortech on it...

Correct me--It appears that both DID NOT MEET the rated out put stated by the factory-- That bothers me a lot---...am I right???---

They were measuring rear wheel HP on the dyno, which is always less than the factory (flywheel) ratings.

Intake manifold runner length more than anything else will cause that. Plus these were the Stock tune of course.

The fact it took them 6 hours to get that sweet graph should tell you something. And also since they were running in SECOND GEAR sort of invalidates the numbers since there is torque multiplication going on. Most accurate pulls are in 3rd gear with the TC locked.

Still good for an apples/apples comparison with the 5.0, the Turrrbo clearly puts out more torque below 3K. Those small turbos run out of breath at higher rpms though.
