The Feb. issue of Motor Trend is out with the first pics of what the 2005 Mustang will actually look like (as opposed to the show car). I think the overall shape is great, but IMHO they should have put a slight beltline "kick-up" over the rear wheels which all the 1st generation Mustangs had. And I've never really liked the '66 Shelby rear quarter windows, even though they help visibility ( Shelby even dropped them after one year). Also, it would look more classic-Mustangish with body-colored headlight bezels. But I'm nitpicking-overall it's a great styling job. Much nicer than the current one. It's gonna sell like mad.

Looks strong. Too small for me! 4.6L 3valve/cyl for cost containment.

I didn't care for the blue seats but, I am looking forward to see how many dash light colors you can get.

I think it is a little too retro. The show car was retro with a more modern theme. This car is damn near an exact copy of the later 60 and early 70 cars. Even the wheels are too retro. White letter tires? With this Mustang and the Ford GT the Ford showrooms are starting to look like the showrooms of the 60's. Why not go back to the fifties again and make a new Edsel? I would like to see a new version of the 67 T-Bird with suicide doors. That would be cool. I wish J Mays would get a little more creative with the new products.

I like it. I don't think it's too retro at all. If anything not enough.

It's more of a "Mustang" than any they've been selling for quite a few decades now!

They say that you can select from 125 different colors for the instrument panel.

EDIT: I also will be looking to buy one when they hit the market. Of course it will be in black! Hoping for a Cobra, but rumors of an SVT taking a "break" for '05 makes me wonder. I might just have to "settle" for the GT. :D

I wiill rent one when they are available & go from there. I rented the present iteration a few years ago, and haven't done it since.....From the pics, though, it's sweet.

I like the exterior styling and the interior is growing on me. Can't wait to see one and take a test drive. I like the current Mach 1, just wish FMC would add a bigger engine with more horses.

Hey Ross, here is the front cover of Motor Trend.

I think it looks awesome!!

My last Mustang GT was an '89.
Maybe its time for history to repeat itself?

I'll never forget the fun I had with my 85 GT. This new Mustang looks HOT.

For those "longer" members ;) considering a purchase, just plan on moving the driver's seat back a few inches!

I wonder if/when they will get around to replacing the SOHC V-6 with something a bit better. Most V-6s on the market today make 200 horsepower or better with a lot less than 4 liters.

Obviously Ford won't want to improve the V-6 too much, because the low end Mustang is supposed to be cheap. But something in the 240-270 range for the V-6 would be nice without taking the fun out of getting a GT.

The car has nice clean styling, but I'm not crazy about the headlights.
The head lights don't look right to me, maybe something a little more modern on the next version.
